Mrs. Doubtfire is an American comedy movie starring Robin Williams and Sally Field. It was on the 100 funniest movies in the 20th century and was rated as number 40. There isn’t a specific setting in the movie. The two main characters altered between different places at different times yet we can consider their home to be a basic setting where the major change and the essence of the story was taking place.
The movie is mainly about a man and a woman who had 3 children. They were somehow different from one another. One day the father decided to throw his daughter a birthday party despite her bad report card grades. The mother wasn’t able to handle such a chaotic life and asked for divorce where the judge accepted her reasons and granted her custody of the children. The father wanted to spend as much time as possible with his kids and was ready to do whatever it takes. Therefore he decided to be the nanny named Mrs. Doubtfire the mother was searching for. He dressed up and wore the right make up to match the nanny’s features. When he got hired he was happy to spend time next to his family although no one recognized him. He started to save the money he earned to buy a home and have some fixed assets that would help him in gaining back the kids next time in court. With time, he realized that the mother was seeing someone else and he started to get jealous. One day the kids caught the nanny and were able to discover that he is their father so he was obliged to explain everything to them. However when the mother knew the truth she was very mad at her ex-husband because he lied all that time. Therefore the id in that sense was dominating over everything because if it wasn’t the case he wouldn’t have been caught lying. In short, deception won’t lead us to any better place since by lying the only thing would be dominating is the id that won’t help us in reaching the intended goal we’ve been seeking.
In short, the film was interesting and funny. The writer, as well as the director, was able to represent the concept of deception with a lot of other issues in a comic way. They were able to represent the importance of both parents’ existence in their kids’ lives. They also shed a light on the importance of forgiveness where the mother forgave the father in the end for the sake of the kids. All in all, the movie was pretty fascinating and funny.
The story itself was quite interesting. The characters are believable and some had obvious arcs, the plot seems well paced, and most plot points are memorable. The dialogue didn’t seem forced, and flowed fairly realistically. The conflict, Devine Corporations vs the Beanfield (well, really, it’s owner but…), ended well, with Devine not being able to do anything about it, not for a lack of trying.
Criticisms (Favourable): Very original, intelligent plot. Well-written characters that aren’t two dimensional and who make human decisions (David’s father, who may seem like a cruel man but who is really just doing what he was brought up to believe is right).
Overall I think that the show was worth seeing, even though I let my parents pick the film--which I will never do again by the way-- I think that it was a good production. It was a little boring at first, which might have just been because I didn’t really want to see it in the first place, but the storyline was pretty good. I personally like humor, so I tend to pick shows that I know will have some humor, but I’m proud of myself for seeing something outside of my comfort zone.
Overall this movie was exciting. It had lots of important information about the Salem Witch Trails. The director of this movie knew exactly who his audience would be and hit it out of the park by adding things that the audience would understand. The writer also had made this appeal to a very special audience. He knew who would most likely see the film and tried to stay true to that.

The surprising acts of the mother and the descriptions, which are presented to us from her, are very conclusive and need to be further examined to draw out any further conclusions on how she?really? felt. I have a lot of fun. The mother-daughter relationship between the narrator and her daughter brings up many questions as to their exact connection.
The movie is, most likely, done well enough to intrigue its intended audience. It captured the theme and story line of the book. It falls short, though, when compared to the beautiful, sensitive and contemplative prose of Natalie Babbitt. One could only hope that a viewing of the film will lead the watcher to try the book and be delighted all the more.
All in all, after watching the movie, I know how to be thankful, the point of persistence and the precious friendship, I have learnt some important things that I didn’t know before. And the best thing is I'm still young enough, I also can fix my behavior and gain experiences.
I think it did a great job of showing how a family can come to view addictive and abnormal behavior as normal. I would recommend this movie to friends. I feel that it gives great insight into the dynamics of how the disease of alcoholism can trickle down the family tree affecting everyone it touches in such profound ways. Other than the lack of physical abuse I could see myself playing most of the roles the kids did as far as lost child and hero, I remember trying to fulfill most of those roles when I was younger trying anything from trying harder in school to trying to do chores to perfection in the hopes that I could through my works keep my parents from drinking. ...r, this movie is lack of depth of storyline. The audiences can even predict what will happen in the next scenes. Moreover, the ending of this movie is too cheesy and irrational according to me. If only they change the ending to become more interesting and rational, I will give a four or five stars out of five. In spite of a lame twist ending, this movie is a perfect example to show that managers should be able to motivate and challenge their employee. It is important to remember that a happy employee means a productive employee.
I have to disagree with both of these reviews. I believe that the story was brilliantly written and the cinematography was beautiful. This movie touched me and had me in tears, which believe me is hard to do. I do agree with the New York Times and New Yorker that it was a little dragged out and that Kiera Knightly's acting was over rated. Other than that, I would defiantly recommend this movie.
Although I enjoyed the main portion of the movie, there were some obvious likes and dislikes in my opinion. I believe that I learned from this movie and it helped me understand more of what the people of that time were feeling.
The book and the movie were both very good. The book took time to explain things like setting, people’s emotions, people’s traits, and important background information. There was no time for these explanations the movie. The book, however, had parts in the beginning where some readers could become flustered.
