Mr Keating Conformity Analysis

178 Words1 Page

When Mr Keating instructed three students to just start walking, they all walked in unison and their classmates started clapping in unison also. Mr. Keating never told the students that they had to walk in any certain way, but for some reason they were. Mr. Keating then pointed out this form of conformism to the students and then told them to walk in their own individual ways, the students seemed to enjoy that much more. Mr. Keating was trying to teach the boys to not be conformist, because one of the dangers of conformity is that people are willing to give up their personal individuality in order to be accepted in society. Mr. Keating quoted The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost in this lesson because it relates to embracing one's personality.
