My mother, so demanding, so strict. Everything has to always be perfect. On christmas, she was the worst. She had to have the biggest christmas tree, the brightest house lights, and the best children. My siblings and I always had to be dressed to impress. I always kept my grades right and work hard on my football team, but still, Me being her youngest son at age 8, I still had the biggest imagination. Mother didn't know about my imagination, or about anything that goes on in my young kid mind. We did as she said and throughout december, we were stressed. I had a different christmas theme in mind. “You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch…..You really are a heel!”. “You’re as cuddly as a cactus, you're as charming as a eel…..Mr Grinch!” I was dying of laughter. I looked in my mirror and practiced laughing like him. I practiced walking on my toes just like he did. And I’d promised myself that christmas would be different. At my mothers annual christmas celebration, I would dress up as the grinch. I would spray paint my red hair lime green and put on green whiskers. I would be hysterical. I made my own costume sort of like santa’s but made for the Grinch. I even included my small yorkie puppy in my scheme. I picked my puppy up, looked him in the eyes and said “You will be max”. He wasn't quite the same dog but he would have to do. I strapped him in a little santa costume then taped a paper that read his new name.
