The movie I chose to write my paper on is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The movie begins with a scene of an older lady named Daisy in the hospital. Daisy is old and dying and her daughter Caroline is by her side. Caroline tries to say goodbye to her mother. Caroline says that she hopes she hasn’t disappointed her mother. Her mother stated that no she has disappointed her and asked her to read a diary to her. The diary begins with a story that takes place in New Orleans during 1985. Thomas Button is rushing through the streets as everyone is celebrating the end of the Great War to get to his wife who is actively in labor with their son. Late one morning, Daisy had come back to visit Queenie. Daisy didn’t recognize Benjamin so she introduced herself to him. When she realized it was Benjamin they caught up and went for dinner. Benjamin had very few gray hairs and started getting stronger and looking better. Mr. Button had come to visit him and they went out for a drink. During this outing, Mr. Button informed Benjamin that he was his father. Mr. Button showed Benjamin the button factory which was the family business. Children with this condition more often have prominent eyes, thin lips, a thin nose, and protruding ears. Alopecia is also common and so is aged looking skin and joint abnormalities. Hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis) is also common. This increases the chances of having a heart attack or a stroke. This condition is rare and is reported to occur in 1 in 4 million newborns worldwide. This condition is diagnosed by genetic testing along with other physical examinations. This condition is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene. The LMNA provides instructions for making proteins called lamin. This condition results in the production of an abnormal version of the lamin A protein. Because of this mutated protein, the nuclear envelope is unstable and the nucleus becomes progressively damaged. The average life expectancy for someone with this disease is approximately 13 years old. There is not a known cure for this disease, but medications and therapy can help alleviate
