Remember the Titans is a movie about two segregated schools coming together as one. It included an all-white school and an all-black school, and the conflict starts when the students must play on one football team. The coach from the black school is chosen as head coach over the football team instead of the successful white coach from the opposite school. They decide to split the job, so one coaches offense while the other coaches defense. The students are forced to play together and eventually they learn to trust and depend on each other. Although there were many social psychology topics illustrated in the film, some of them stood out more to me. There was a lot of prejudice situations in this movie, such as when they first came home

Coach Boone faced a difficult task coaching at a primary Caucasian school in early 1970. The Caucasion players were reluctant to play for a black coach. He also had an awkward relationship with assistant coach, Bill Yoast. Not only did Coach Boone and his family face challenges with his team and colleges, there was also challenges with the communities. As these two coaches began to work, sync and show their truthfulness and principle to the young men they were coaching, they and the community began to make a strong impact and everyone will always, remember the Titians.

There is no surprise that the popularity of the movie being so high because Americans love sports, and since there is emotion added along with the sports factor Americans just eat it up. Remember the Titans may be rated PG but throughout the film it deals with R rated issues in a way that captures the audience. Coach Boone not only has to try to get this team to intertwine with one another, he has to deal with the racism that comes from everyone else in town. Coach Yoast has to cope with someone coming in and taking not only his head-coaching job from him but also his team, he becomes the assistant for a team that he used to have complete control over. The movie Remember the Titans takes place in Virginia. The year was when there were no racial mixings in the schools. The movie starts practically the day that the announcement of desegregation was going to come into action.
In the movie "Remember the Titans" by "Boaz Yakin" the character Herman Boone, played by "Denzel Washington", is faced by a difficult challenge that is significantly important to the movie. Boone in a sense faces a challenge of acceptance in which, by the end of the movie, he has experienced in two noticeable ways. Boone faces the challenge of being accepted by the community, revealing to us that he wants the community working together rather than judging and persecuting one another. Additionally Boone fights for the acceptance and respect of his team, The Titans, proving to them that they can indeed "make this race thing work".

Herman Boone coaches an interracial team and is faced with the challenge of uniting the whole team, including the other coaches, despite what their views of either race are. Through many struggles along the way the team unites and just by a few seconds wins the state championships.
In the movie “Remember the Titans” it portrays a lot of emotions showing the story of a football team coming together through the criticism coming from their surroundings. One of the most important lessons throughout this movie is the racial controversy that are brought up between the whites and blacks. The players have to learn that they need to work together to accomplish their common goal and do what is expected. They face many obstacles but ultimately come together as the team they were meant to be.
One major one that sticks out is discrimination. That was by far the most influential social problem in the movie. Everything revolved around discrimination in the movie. Not only was the main character a minority, due to his skin color, he was also mentally disabled. The opening scene is of him walking down the street in his down, and everyone veers away from him with looks of disgust. He never harmed anyone, ever, but people saw him as different, and therefore threatening. Also, later on in the movie, Radio was discriminated against by a new, local cop. It was Christmas time in the movie, and Radio had received many, many gifts from townspeople. He had decided that he didn 't need all of them, so he had loaded up a shopping cart, and was hand-delivering them to everyones porch step. The cop drove by, and noticed this ‘suspicious
Robert Griffin III once said that "Football is football. Talent is talent. But the mindset of your team makes all the difference." A based on a true story Disney film, Remember the Titans showed how a diverse football team became one. Disney wanted to make a feel good movie but they left out a few key points for a white and black high school football team come together. This being said, I believe Remember the Titans was not an accurate movie because of the racial issues, how the football scenes were depicted, and the climax of movie were not portrayed the same in real life.
This movie is a wonderful production starting from 1960 and ending in 1969 covering all the different things that occurred during this unbelievable decade. The movie takes place in many different areas starring two main families; a very suburban, white family who were excepting of blacks, and a very positive black family trying to push black rights in Mississippi. The movie portrayed many historical events while also including the families and how the two were intertwined. These families were very different, yet so much alike, they both portrayed what to me the whole ‘message’ of the movie was. Although everyone was so different they all faced such drastic decisions and issues that affected everyone in so many different ways. It wasn’t like one person’s pain was easier to handle than another is that’s like saying Vietnam was harder on those men than on the men that stood for black rights or vice versa, everyone faced these equally hard issues. So it seemed everyone was very emotionally involved. In fact our whole country was very involved in president elections and campaigns against the war, it seemed everyone really cared.
The movie I decided to analyze was Remember the Titans. I examined the dilemmas and ethical choices that were displayed throughout the story. In the early 1970s, two schools in Alexandria Virginia integrate forming T.C. Williams High School. The Caucasian head coach of the Titans is replaced by an African American coach (Denzel Washington) from North Carolina, which causes a fury among white parents and students. Tensions arise quickly among the players and throughout the community when players of different races are forced together on the same football team. Coach Boone is a great example of a leader. He knows he faces a tough year of teaching his hated team. But, instead of listening to the hating town or administrators, Boone pushes his team to their limits and forces good relationships between players, regardless of race. His vision for the team involves getting the players concerned in what the team needs to become, and not what it is supposed to be; a waste. Boone is a convincing leader with a brutal, boot camp approach to coaching. He believes in making the players re-build themselves as a team. When Boone says, You will wear a jacket, shirt, and tie. If you don't have one buy one, can't afford one then borrow one from your old man, if you don't have an old man, then find a drunk, trade him for his. It showed that he was a handy Craftsman and wanted done what he wanted done no matter what it took.During training camp, Boone pairs black players with white players and instructs them to learn about each other. This idea is met with a lot of fighting, but black linebacker Julius Campbell and stubborn white All-American Gerry Bertier. It was difficult for the players to cope with the fact they had to play with and compete with ...
In the opening scene of Remember the Titans a riot breaks out over the death of a black student. During this scene there are a number of cinematic techniques used to set the scene for ‘chaos’. These techniques include the medium close shot, characterisation, camera movement and sound that combine to create a sense of impending doom. Medium close shots were used effectively, to allow the audience to see the facial expressions of the black and white crowd and the size of the crowd. Characterisation can be seen through the actions and speech of the white and black crowd. Words like “murder” were used the black crowd and signs quoting “where is the justice”. The white crowd shouts in anger towards the black group demonstrating their strong hatred towards black people. Camera movements such as panning, both left and right were used with great effect, to highlight the deterioration in the
There are many more examples throughout this movie that can be connected or assessed to the many different concepts that was learned. There are many real-life events and these concepts are important because they allow people to see how different types of people and families deal with stress and problems and it is important not to judge or jump to conclusions and maybe take a step back and take time to consider what others may be going
Remember the Titans is a film from 2000 displaying a true story of a racially divided football team from the 1970s. The movie highlights the relationships of the black and white people, and how they learned to interact with each other in a time when this was not the way of life. It brings up a number of questions throughout, of what is right and what is wrong, and really challenges the characters, making it a very interesting movie to watch. I have seen this movie many times, and each time I feel like I get something new out of it. It is a movie that can be used as a teaching tool, it does a great job of interpreting not only what was happening in the United States of America at that time, but social psychology concepts through real life situations.
