Imagine having to walk into school wondering if you are going to be caught in the middle of crossfire between a teacher and a student. Well, that’s what Johnny Trumbley stressed out about every day as he walked into Mountain Gap Middle School. Mountain Gap was an excellent school with copious astute kids who excelled in everything they did. Moreover, the focus of Mountain Gap was to provide students with all the necessities for when they move to high school and sanction them to build relationships between teachers and students that will become propitious for future success. Every day there were numerous amounts of parents in the office waiting to talk to the principal and threatening to take their kids out of school. The most prevalent verbal expression that was said was “This isn’t going to protect our kids, but only increase worry within us as parents and also by sending our children here.” Some of the student’s parents were fine with the circumstances, but for the parents that had strong opinions about not allowing guns in the school, all chaos broke loose. Various amounts of students were missing weeks of school due to their parents fearing that teachers would erroneously utilize the guns. Johnny’s mother was even leaning towards taking him out of school being she believes that guns shouldn’t be in the schools with teachers who are little less than civilians. Johnny came across some research that stated, “In fact, it is almost certain that easier access to guns in schools would pose a greater overall threat to student safety than the current threat of mass shootings in schools” (Hansen). Johnny noticed that this research backs up all of the parents’ concerns that they are expressing such as how the safety of the students is in more danger with the existence of guns in the
