Application of career theories to my own life allows for analyzing past and future career decisions. Holland’s Theory of Careers states that one’s vocation is an expression of self, personality, and way of life. There is an indisputable and fundamental difference in the quality of life one experiences if they choose a career one truly enjoys, versus choosing a career one detests. A true testament to the validity of Holland’s theory, my job/career choices reflect my interests, as well as the evolution of my personality (internal self). My first job as a fine jewelry specialist and second job as a make-up artist echo my love of the fashion world. As I matured and became less fascinated by presumed “glamour” careers, I became captivated by physical fitness, nutrition, and medicine; I received my national fitness trainer certificate so that I may become a personal trainer. Nevertheless, my career decisions do not fit uniformly into merely one career theory.

The film that I watched was Michael Collins, Directed by Neil Jordan, I found this film to be a very interesting film regarding Irish history. I was interested in the movie from beginning to end. The actors and actresses in the movie did an outstanding job representing the roles that they were playing. Liam Neeson was an excellent Michael Collins and even bared quite a resemblance. Aiden Quinn played the role of Harry Boland and Julia Roberts played the role of Kitty Kierman. An important stand out role of Eamon de Valera was played by Alan Rickman. This film portrays Michael Collins as an Irish Patriot fighting to gain independence from the British Empire. The film breaks down the different significant events that took place between the Easter Uprising and the time of Michael Collins death.
The movie Spy directed by Paul Feig will undeniably get you laughing. While lead actress Melissa McCarthy masterfully played her role in this 2015 action comedy movie, much kudos goes out to Rose Byrne, Jude Law, Jason Statham, Miranda Hart, Allison Janney and Peter Serafinowicz too. Each moment of the 117 minute movie deemed successful, leading it to be one of the best action comedy movies, and shall I say movies of all time. Whether taking into account the quirky and funny personalities of each of the characters or the intense action scenes, the movie Spy will never once be thought of as a waste of your time.
The central character in this film is Bryan Mills, played by Liam Neeson. His daughter, Kim Mills, is played by Maggie Grace. Although having limited camera exposure, she is the main driving force behind her father’s actions. Bryan’s ex-wife Lenore, and her husband Stuart contribute supporting roles which add to the excitement of the film. Amanda, Kim’s friend, played by Katie Cassidy has a short-lived role that provides a valuable part to the film.

Coming to the point of my current career choice has been a long road. My idea of what a career is or should be has changed with circumstances and age. According to Weintraub (2005), “the average worker spends only four years in a job and will have 12 jobs in as many as five career fields during his or her working life.” (para. 1) My first career was marriage and motherhood followed by a surprising healthcare career. What the future holds waits to be seen. With a bachelor of science degree in information technology the options are wide open.
