A deductive argument is an argument whose conclusion (bees can produce a mental map and plan with just 1 million neurons in their brain) follows, with certainty, from its premises. Conditional arguments are a clear case of deductive argument. A conditional deductive argument has a conditional statement for its premises i.e. it is in If…then… form. The premise of the argument is, that bees returning to the hive with the news of a new source of nectar do a dance that represents the new source direction and distance. Other bees observe the dance but, still exploits the old source of nectar. The conditional premise of the argument is, if the bees found that the old source has become depleted of nectar when they return (Sufficient condition), then, they fly directly to the new source without having to return to the hive to follow the other bees' directions (Necessary condition). The conditional premise affirms the sufficient condition and, the conclusion states the necessary condition of the conditional premise. Therefore, bees think, plan and produces a mental map with just 1 million neurons in their brain to reach to the new source of nectar to where they directed at. All the bees fall into a homogeneous group as they have a similar nature and character. The actions of one bee are a sample which is a representative of the populations of bees in a similar way.
By listing down enough accurate examples to prove his thesis, Thomas presents a clear structured and logically organized essay. In this novel, the main character, Lily Owens, embarks on a Bildungsroman journey after leaving her birth home to find her true identity and “home.” The idea of “home” guides Lily on a path of self-discovery and leads her to the pink house and the feminine society that lies within, in which she finds true empowerment and womanhood in her life. “Home” plays an important role in Lily’s journey throughout the novel. Lily feels lost and alone at the Peach House with T. Ray because of his continuous physical and mental abuse.

“The Secret Life of Bees” is an adventurous book that tells the story of a teenage girl name Lily who grew up abused by her father, T.Ray. The story takes places in Sylvan, South Carolina 1964 when this state was crawling with racists. Lily had a negro caregiver, Rosaleen, that she loved dearly. Given the racist tones in Sylvan, this caused Rosaleen to be discriminated. Already resenting living with T.Ray because of her abuse, and the desire to find out what happened to her dead mom, Lily runs off on an adventure with Rosaleen in a quest to find find these answers. Throughout their adventure Lily and Rosaleen face many challenges together which compromises their friendship.
Within this world, people become self-governed after going through difficult times. In this novel, a fourteen-year-old white girl, Lily Owen’s, determination leads her to find contentment and another self-ruled woman, August Boatwright. After running away from home, Lily meets August and her two black sisters who maintain a large apiary to produce honey. Although some people work efficiently together, independent persons seek true happiness with their experiences as shown in the novel, The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Throughout the novel, Lily and August prove the importance of independence by managing their lives and taking care of their loved ones.
“‘I’m staying here,’ I said. ‘I’m not leaving.’ The words hung there, hard and gleaming. Like pearls I’d been fashioning down inside my belly for weeks” (Kidd 296). This is one of the examples in Sue Monk Kidd’s novel, the Secret Life of Bees, where Lily has finally transitioned into adulthood. The author communicates the message that throughout the novel Lily endures an emotional struggle that helps build her into the woman she is at the end of the novel with indirect characterization, allusions, and symbolism. These literary devices display the characters’ emotions and feelings throughout the book. In doing this, Kidd establishes the relationships between Lily and the people around her as ones that giver her a hard time, but teach her to be more strong. Therefore, the author included literary devices as a method of emphasizing the maturing of Lily through hardships that she eventually resolves.
Throughout The Secret Life of Bees , there is no shortage of symbolism, coming directly from its namesake, bees. Each connection draws upon the deep and rich meaning behind this wonderful composed text. The bees, however, never are a scapegoat. Similar to Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird character Atticus, they never allow for shortcuts or disillusion with reality. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd is the story of a fourteen-year-old girl named Lily, who runs away from her abusive father with her housekeeper to the town that her late mother had once been to. There, she meets August and the Boatwright sisters, who live in a bright pink house and own a bee farm. These women teach her all about life through bees and the black Mary statue that is kept in their house. Lily comes from a rough situation, surrounded by negativity, but the sisters take her in and teach her what family and love is. Although living in a world where, for her, love is scarce, Lily is able to learn from the all negatives in her life, which then turn into positives, and Lily is a better person because of what she learned.
The setting in the Secret life of bees helps set the overall structure of the book. As the setting changes, and certain events take place, so does the characters views on life. The most change seen is on Lily, the main character. Her values multiply and her perspective on cultural order shifts from one mind set to another. Although one part of the book’s setting limits the opportunities of the characters; the other part opens those and different opportunities. The setting in The Secret Life of Bees is vitally important because it impacts the main character and the people around her through events that transpire in the book.

Also i learn that honey bees help pollinate foods like blueberries, soybeans,asparagus,broccoil,celery,squash,cucumbers,peaches,cherries, cranberries, and melions. Honey bees live in hives and live where there are trees and flowers.And when i went back i even saw more honey bees. All honey bees have jobs one is taking care of the baby queen bee bees and another job is to make wax,build honeycomb, and clean. Then when i was there i saw the queen bee she was huge i stared to get scared. When i went home i stared to learn about the queen bee. The next moring i went back and i brought a jar of honey with me.
