It is relatively cheap compared to other modes of transport in terms of acquiring the trucks and also maintaining them and the roads. It is the best mode of transporting perishable goods like fruits and vegetables over a short distance. The limitations with this mode of transport are that it is not economical for long distances due to its limited carrying capacity.
