The main idea of the themes of the list expresses how women are decreased to subhuman beings, subjects that are not worthy of compassion, love, or respect. Similar to earlier misogynistic music, rap songs with misogynistic content have been widely accepted and allowed by society, generating income for popular artists and the whole music industry. Rappers that are known to utilise such lyrics, get plenty of airtime, either on the radio or on music television stations, such as, MTV. Even though expletive language is often edited on American radio- and TV-stations, the misogynistic overtones are very distinctive and clear to grasp. Over time, some rap artists might adapt the stated sexist and racial beliefs, and think that they become something better and consciously place themselves above their audience and pretend to be more superior than women Hip-Hop Culture + Politics). The following lyrics provide examples and show how misogynistic beliefs are represented in rap music. The presented excerpts are highly offensive and controversial, but they show the contemporary type of rap that has been and is still produced by well-known recording studios (Adams and Fuller 949).
The first example is provided by N.W.A and comes from their last album, Niggaz 4 Life. In fact, N.W.A. was among the first rap groups to utilise misogynistic lyrics and these lyrics became synonymous with ‘hardcore’ lyrics. The entire CD was dedicated to rebellion, murder, and a misogynistic belief. She is depicted as a bitch, due to her morality regarding sex, which is questionable because she is portrayed as having sex with a stranger. What is more, the woman is also called a slut because she utilises the encounter with the stranger to steal his money (950-51). The listed rap lyrics are only a few excerpts of a variety of misogynistic songs in the music industry. It is necessary to illustrate the obnoxious lyrics presented in misogynistic rap, but it is also crucial to remember that the disrespect and hatred toward women come originally from the culturally accepted misogyny. Even though misogynistic rap music has been widely embraced by a lot of consumers, one needs to know that there is also the possibility that this music genre may have a bad influence on young children who are the main targeted group of rap music
