While many people support the belief that the United State’s drinking age should be lowered from 21 to 18, I believe that it should be maintained. The facts overwhelmingly support a minimum legal drinking age of 21. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, since the National Minimum Drinking Age Act was passed in 1984, states that increased their legal drinking age to 21 saw a 19% decrease in traffic fatalities. This means that minimum drinking age of 21 has saved as many as 1,000 young American lives every year.
