Most people has ate or seen a Hershey chocolate bar. But do most people know who founded these delicious chocolates? Milton Hershey was the entrepreneur who founded the Hershey Chocolate Corporation and a philanthropist. His life as an entrepreneur wasn’t easy. It was full with success and failures but it all lead to a great success. He was born in Derry Township, Pennsylvania on September 13, 1857. ("Hershey's." 1) Milton in his early years of his childhood followed his father who seeks out big opportunity. A year after Milton drop out of school he grew an interest for candy making and became an apprentice for a confectioner. He set up his own shop at the age of 18 in Philadelphia. In Denver he discovers caramel and how fresh milk can make it. But Milton wasn’t happy working under someone so he left Denver to start again alone. First he went to Chicago then to New York City and fail both times. He was so stubborn and tries again when he returned to Lancaster and starts the Lancaster Caramel Company. This time the business is a success and he is shipping caramel throughout the country.
At the Columbian Exposition in 1893 Milton was inspired to work with milk chocolate candy. So he sold the Lancaster Caramel Company for 1 million dollars and opened a new path to Hershey and the candy industry. The Hershey Chocolate Company was a great success and it started to expand.
