In the award-winning film ‘Million Dollar Baby’ the director, Clint Eastwood, uses many significant scenes throughout the film such as the final fight scene ‘dirty fight’ to present themes and ideas to the audience, Clint Eastwood uses the four aspects of camera work, sound, dialogue and lighting. To do this, Clint Eastwood utilizes a variety of important film techniques to present these ideas, which help to create emotion and craft the scene. One of the most important scenes in ‘Million Dollar Baby’ which uses a lot of these techniques is the scene ‘dirty fight’.

An important technique used in the scene ‘dirty fight’ is the camerawork. During the scene ‘dirty fight’ While Maggie lies—barely conscious—we see the use of a P.O.V shot fixated on a whirlpool of lights, indicating to us that Maggie was unable to continue the fight. The sudden and energetic music that played, contrasted with the music that was playing during Billie’s entry which, revealed to the audience that the foreshadowing from her entry came true.
