Born in Caprese Michelangelo, Italy born March 6, 1475( Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni) most commonly known by his first name Michelangelo. His dad had a job working for the Florentine government, but shortly after he was born his family went back to Florence, the city where Michelangelo would say was his home.

Michelangelo was arguably one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance. During the Renaissance Michelangelo’s talents began to develop and succeed. His mother passed away when he was at the age, but at the start of things, Michelangelo’s father did not enjoy his son’s interest in art’s as a full-time job. The Sistine Chapel Ceiling In 1505 Pope Julius ii wanted Michelangelo to make him a great tomb with 40 human-sized statues. As he involved himself in the military disputes and his money became insufficient, a displeased Michelangelo left Rome but still worked on the tomb on and off for decades. But however in 1508, Julius got ahold of Michelangelo to have him come back to Rome for cheaper, but still have a strong desire to painting projects to represent the 12 apostles on the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel, a most sacred of the Vatican where new popes are elected. Over the time period of the four-year project, Michelangelo painted 12 figures, 7 prophets, and five sibyls, around the borders of the ceiling and filled the center with scenes from Genesis.
