During the mid to late 1980s NBA basketball was simply treading water. As a result of the lack of a marketable superstar, the NBA was losing popularity to the National Football League and Major League Baseball. Following Jordan’s emergence, the NBA’s attendance rose dramatically and it’s worldwide popularity skyrocketed. Given his large platform as a NBA superstar, Jordan gave back to his community and most specifically children. Throughout the course of Michael Jordan’s outstanding career, he made a profound impact on the education of children. During Michael Jordan’s final basketball game as a member of the Washington Wizards, Jordan was given a plaque as a part of his ceremonial goodbye ceremony as a result of his large impact on the education of children by donating computers and money to many local schools. In addition to his large donations, Jordan also has led many campaigns to urge and motivate children to try their best and give their all in school. As a result of his donations and campaigns, Jordan has improved the educational conditions of the schools he has spoken and donated to and therefore changed the lives of those students. (Weeks)
There are so many clear and dramatic exaggerations throughout the article. Michael Jordan is described as being “the most unstoppable assassin of all-time, the smartest marketer of all-time” and then sarcastically mentioned as “the savviest shoe salesman of all-time” (Mathis, par. 2). He then goes on to describe how Michael “floated through the air and levitated to the rim” as the city of Chicago “lauded the former Bulls megastar as a messiah” (pars. 3-4). How much more exaggeration could a person use to describe Michael Jordan? I didn’t realize people could levitate and float. And when did Jordan become a “messiah?” He isn’t a God that can do impossible things like it is implied he could do by being called “messiah.” The things he did were impressive to watch, but LeBron has undeniable impressive moments as well. The picture I chose is a very deep picture, it is Michael Jordan's first National Basketball Association Championship that had eluded him for the previous seven years. He was the most valuable player in this championship series which means a lot to any professional player who wins it. His father, James, is the other man in this picture, showing great pride in his son knowing all of the hard work he put into this championship and his career. Even though he struggled to win the trophy, he is overwhelmingly happy and expresses great triumph.

Well, is it just me or does that sound like a lot of time in the game of basketball? In 1982 he took a big step up from highschool to college, where he wanted to pursue the basketball dream. He went to college at North Carolina where he played NCAA basketball for just one year before he was drafted in 1984. All eyes were on him when he went on the court, because that just how good he was at the game of basketball. Michael Jordan is one of the greatest players in NBA history, maybe even the greatest of all time.
Although unlike LeBron in many ways, his presence was similar off the court. Rhoden held the belief that Michael Jordan managed to actually transcend race. This is true. Rhoden believed that Michael Jordan had the opportunity to change the world for the black man, and specifically the black athlete. But that was not the person Jordan wanted to be. Rhoden is hypocritical for pawning off the “one-on-one” idea of not being a team player but then shuns Jordan for clearly choosing that route. It is true Jordan could have created change, but he put his personal goals and ambitions first. Rhoden details the way that Jordan put himself first in order to keep his image and brand separated from the racial politics of the time period. Few professional basketball athletes’ names are recognizable to the avid, diehard basketball fans and the uninterested layman alike. One of the first, if not the first, athlete to pop up in anyone’s head is the legendary Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan, also known as His Airness, MJ, and Air Jordan, is widely considered the greatest basketball players of all time. Throughout his professional career, Jordan kept changing the game and redefined the entire sport of basketball. However, in 2002, an aspiring athlete by the name of LeBron Raymone James, also known as King James or simply LeBron, immediately rose to prominence and caught the attention of the entire NBA community. The young star quickly proved his tremendous skill, receiving the hype of being the next Michael Jordan. Looking closer, I found that the similarities between the two players are striking.

A sea of mixed emotions occurred during 1998 NBA finals. Many people from different parts of the country packed into an arena to witness history. It did not matter if a person was of different color, wealth or even sex, people wanted to witness greatness. As history occurred in that game, it was captured beautifully. The attention drawn to Michael Jordan that night was captured in a black and white view, yet a lot of detail is in the dark scheme to direct even more attention towards him.

Although going third in the draft, he recreated the game and is known as the best player to ever touch a basketball; he is Michael Jordan.
