Introduction
Business ethics play an important role in guiding the employees about the company standards and rules. In today’s competitive market environment, companies are not following business ethics in order to earn more money. In this case study analysis, issues of business ethics are identified and also various alternatives are recommended in order to solve issues.
Ethical Issues
In the case analysis, there are certain issues which are identified in the company. The Major ethical issue was that seafood stuffed pasta shells were tainted with salmonella and it was shipped to its biggest customer. The second ethical issue was that Southern’s president is not providing complete information to the company before making merger. Due to this, reason, the company has to bear huge losses (Trevino & Nelson, 2010). Further, company is also facing cultural differences because of the merger between two companies. These issues affect the working environment of Michael Homestyle Pasta. Moreover, both companies are facing coordination problem due to lack of understanding.
Pertinent facts
Some of the important facts are that by eating the shells, customers will get health issues, due to which company has to bear huge losses of 3.5 billion dollars. It was difficult for the employee to stop the shipment of its shells. At the same time, it was unethical to provide contaminated products to the customers. It is the responsibility of business to focus towards corporate social responsibility, so that it will be useful in developing the sound image of the company (Shaw, 2010). Another important fact is to have complete information about the overall scenario, so that it will be useful in solving the problem related to communication difference.

Further, through complete information, Mike could not face such type of problem. In addition to this, they should also make proper communication with all its employees, this strategy could be helpful in motivating the employees and they take part in the company’s activities (Trevino & Nelson, 2010). Through this approach, quality assurance manager could be able to give the information to Mike before giving clean report for quality test.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that lack of communication was the major problem of this overall problem. Moreover, Mike did not introduce any code of ethics for the employees. It is also important to follow business ethics and also provide healthy food to the customers.
