So many people have helped in the holocaust and we don't take the time to praise what they have done during that time. Some of them risked their life to help these Jews. These people went against what they were supposed to do and helped to do what was right. People all over helped, some granted only could take in the children but they were saving one more person from dying at the hands of the Nazi's.
One man who you probably would have never thought would be such a great help is Pope Pius XII. The clever pope found places to hide the Jews in places that people wouldn't normally look in, such as Churches, Vatican's and other building that people worshipped their god. During the

He saved Tom Lantos who was actually the only person to survive the holocaust to serve on the House of Representatives. He saved close to 100,000 Jews, he also made "protective passports" these were to help Jews seem like they were Swedish. He saved a lot but still he ended up being captured for helping the Jews and killed in jail!
Now not all people who saved people were men, there were some really important woman that helped save people. One woman that is really amazing is Irena Sendler, she was a social worker and had permission to go into the camps to test for any diseases that were spreading. She used this time to smuggle children out in boxes, or as her excuse items she took to test if there were any sickness on it. She did this quite a few times and ended saving tons of children, it is sad that she couldn't save the parents as well but she did what she could.

During the Holocaust in 1933 a lot of Jewish parents were trying to hide their children to protect them from harm or death by the Nazis. The Nazis were trying to kill all Jewish people. There are a lot of people that were risking their lives for the children of Jews. I’m going to be talking about one of the woman that helped save some children. Caecilia Antonia Maria Loots was a hero of the holocaust because she helped save children while putting her life at risk.
As a Christian, he felt like it was his duty to protect the Jews. He was so engaged in his faith that Lutz decided to help the Jews who surrounded his office everyday to seek for his protection. Lutz cared for many Jewish refugees in Hungary from many nations and Jews under British and Palestine interests. Three things that made Frank important was that he was a brave and courageous fighter, he loved to help fellow Jews, and he saved more than 200 Jews. He contributed to his field of specialty by getting weapons and food for them. He also helped wounded men by carrying them or caring for them. He did this because he loved his fellow fighters. Frank defended many villages when they were under attack by the Nazis. He was never too scared to take on a task because he knew who he was helping.

There are many heroic individuals in history that have shown greatness during a time of suffering ,as well as remorse when greatness is needed, but one individual stood out to me above them all. He served as a hero among all he knew and all who knew him. This individual, Simon Wiesenthal, deserves praise for his dedication to his heroic work tracking and prosecuting Nazi war criminals that caused thousands of Jews, Gypsies, Poles and other victims of the Holocaust to suffer and perish.

The Diary of a Young Girl allows readers to witness and experience a small idea of what Jews in hiding during the holocaust suffered. Some may have lost one's life, but Otto Frank, Anne's Frank's father, survived the holocaust through hiding. The secret annex became the shelter for Otto Frank, his family, and several others Jews starting July sixth, 1942(www.annefrank.org). The annex provided a barrier from the Nazis and death camps for two years before the Gestapo discovered the Franks and others and sent the Jews to concentration camps for the remainder of the holocaust(www.ushmm.org). The others in hiding with Frank lost their lives, leaving Otto Frank the sole survivor from the secret annex. His time in hiding happened to save his life, making him a survivor of the holocaust(www.ushmm.org).
Many question why so few Jews survived while so many people tried to save them. My hypothesis is that the limited amount of food and money made hiding the Jews to difficult and expensive for the non-Jews, giving them virtually no choice but to let the Jews be deported.
The Third Reich sought the removal of the Jews from Germany and eventually from the world. This removal came in two forms, first through emigration, then through extermination. In David Engel’s The Holocaust: The Third Reich and the Jews, he rationalizes that the annihilation of the Jews by the Germans was a result of how Jews were viewed by the leaders of the Third Reich-- as pathogens that threatened to destroy all humanity. By eliminating the existence of the Jews, the Third Reich believed that it would save the entire world from mortal danger. Through documents such as Franzi Epsteins’s, “Inside Auschwitz-A Memoir,” in The Jew in the Modern World: A Documentary History by Paul Mendes-Flohr and Jehuda Reinharz, one is able to see the struggle of the Jews from a first-hand account. Also, through Rudolf Hoess’s “Commandant of Auschwitz,” one is able to see the perspective of a commandant in Auschwitz. In Auschwitz: A History, Sybille Steinbacher effectively describes the concentration camp of Auschwitz, while Hermann Langbein’s People in Auschwitz reflects on Rudolf Hoess’s power and control in Auschwitz as commandant. Through these four texts, one is able to see the effects that the Third Reich’s Final Solution had on the Jews and the commandants.
When individuals think about the Holocaust, most place the responsibility of the terrible events on the perpetrators. However, bystanders played one of the largest roles in the Holocaust (Evans, Carrell) simply by staying safe for way too long (Florida Center) and the world wants to make sure it never happens again (Shriver Jr., Donald W).
" The businessman, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example of a man who was moved emotionally to step in and take action to save the lives of the Jewish people. His bravery still commands great respect today. His role shows the great significance of speaking up against injustice and choosing not to be silent.
His exposure to the criminal acts of his oppressors changed his whole personality. All he cared about was protecting the other Jews from experiencing the same things he did.
Regine Donner, a famous Holocaust survivor, once said, “I had to keep my Jewishness hidden, secret, and never to be revealed on penalty of death. I missed out on my childhood and the best of my adolescent years. I was robbed of my name, my religion, and my Zionist idealism” (“Hidden Children”). Jewish children went through a lot throughout the Holocaust- physically, mentally, and emotionally. Life was frightening and difficult for children who were in hiding during the rule of Adolf Hitler.

How has the survivors next generation been affected? The survivors of the holocaust were deeply effected by the trauma they encountered. This unforgettable experience influenced their lives, those around them, and even their descendants.
Those who survived are here to tell the tragic and devastating history of their lives. The survivors have shared brutal but yet realistic stories from each of their experiences before, during, and after the Holocaust. History shall never repeat itself in the manner of racism, murder, and fear of our leaders. The burning hope of those who were involved still generates an enormous sadness upon the many who have heard the horror of the Holocaust.
