The growth of several types of skin tumors characterized by the malignant growth of melanocytes.

Cause:
Melanoma skin cancer is often caused by too much exposure to the suns UV rays.
Examples include:
• Having had blistering sunburns at any time of a life.
• Getting intense sun exposure every now and then.
Things that make getting melanoma mote likely include your skin type, the color of your hair, and the color of your eyes.
Risk factors:
Several risk factors can make a person more likely to develop melanoma.
• Ultraviolent (UV) light exposure
• Moles- benign
• Fair skin, freckling, and light hair
• Personal history of melanoma or other skin cancers
• Weakened immune system
• Older age
• Male gender
• Xeroderma pigmentosum
