The book Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews tells a story about Greg Gaines‘s life. He try to make his crush envy by pretending to date this girl name Rachel. Rachel alway thought Greg was funny until one day. After some year later Rachel didn’t go to the same high school. During his high school life, he didn’t want to be making friend out talk to anyone but only be alone.One day his mom came to his room and told him his friend Rachel has cancer and is about to die. By the time I got home, my brother had already arrived and was enthusiastically recounting the day’s events to my mom, who had obviously been crying. When he finally stopped carrying on, my mom told me to sit down and then she told me. I will never forget her exact words or even the way she said them. “Megan committed suicide today.” I stared blankly at her, I knew she had to be lying, she had to be wrong, Megan would never do that. We had been too good of friends for too long, I knew her too well. Megan was always happy, she always had a joke to tell. She had such a bright future, she was an excellent athlete and it seemed as though she succeeded in everything she tried.
After reading the directions and topic for this paper, I was extremely eager to get started. Adolescence is a stage of life that is very critical for a person. Speaking from my own experience, I know that the teenage years are a difficult part of life and during these years, one experiences a rollercoaster of different emotions, obstacles, and decision-making. Aside from the topic of Adolescence, I was glad that I could choose which movie I wanted to watch, and that was an easy decision. I decided to watch Sixteen Candles. The last time I watched this movie was when I received the DVD as a gift, which was when I turned sixteen. The tone of the film seems to transition from humorous to gloomy. Greg, who is insecure and unsure of his future, meets Rachel, who evidently knows what her future looks like. Throughout the whole movie, you’re wondering to yourself if Greg and Rachel will ever become something more. Aside from what you might think, they never will. The end of the film is significant because we finally learn that Greg is in fact in love with Rachel.
Daniels past best friend Chris had a tragic death. After this, daniel became hesitant towards making new friends as he thought he would lose them again. This death changed his life majorly, he slowly had fewer friends because he thought the closer he became to them and the more he relied on them he would lose them, He then met eddy who changed his life forever. Even when eddy is dead Daniel kept his emotions and lessons learnt from eddy to use in life, this he did. He used everything eddy said and it helped him through life. Eddy's death made daniel feel happy and sad. Happy because she had died the way she meant to “ Nothing except I felt like she'd died the way she was meant to. No sirens. N needles and tubes. No watching her fade away.” (pg 191) It also made him feel lonely, his best friend in the world had just died “I felt stranded and lost. Alone in the world, it was a feeling that scorched a path in my mind back to the time when Chris had died." Eddy's death made daniel more appreciative of the people around him. He also became very positive and trusting. He knew he could face life on his own, he knew he was independent but also knew when to ask for help, he knew he could find someone else like eddy. “I wasn't alone. In the novel, A Lesson Before Dying, By Ernest Gaines, the main character, Grant Wiggins gives a man meaning in his last days alive. Wiggins gives him a book to write his thoughts in, and helps him to realize that he is not a “hog.” He shows him that he is truly a good person, and that he should die with his head up, knowing that he led a worthy and honest life. Mr. Wiggins changed greatly through the story, from a cold school teacher to an open hearted and caring man. This helped his relationship with others as well as Jefferson. Through his changing, he became the one man that Jefferson could trust.
Growing up, Charlie faced two difficult loses that changed his life by getting him admitted in the hospital. As a young boy, he lost his aunt in a car accident, and in middle school, he lost his best friend who shot himself. That Fall, Charlie walks through the doors his first day of highschool, and he sees how all the people he used to talk to and hang out with treat him like he’s not there. Morrie and Mitch’s relationship went far beyond that of a teacher and student. It turned into a friendship between two men. Morrie taught Mitch innumerable lessons about the world, feeling sorry for oneself, regrets, death, family, emotions, fear of aging, money, how love goes on, marriage, culture, forgiveness, and saying good-bye. In the novel “Tuesday’s with Morrie”, Mitch Albom describes the relationship between him and his college professor who he hasn’t seen in years. Mitch, who is a sports reporter is constantly busy and hasn’t had time to stay in touch with his professor as he promised. After sixteen years, Mitch is bombarded with the devastating news that he professor has been diagnosed with ALS. Not knowing how to face him after breaking his promise, Mitch decided to fly to Boston to apologize and to say his goodbyes. Once Mitch arrived, his professor remembered him instantly and gives him a warm welcoming hug.

For this assignment, I decided to do my film review on To Kill a Mockingbird (Mulligan, R., & Pakula, A. (Directors). (1962). To Kill a Mockingbird[Motion picture on VHS]. United States of America.) I have a personal connection to this film because it is one of my most beloved novels by Harper Lee. I have never watched the film so it was a nice experience to see the characters I have loved for years come to life just before my eyes. The film particularly focuses on a white family living in the South of the United States in the 1930s. The two siblings, Jem and Scout Finch, undergo major changes while experiencing evil and injustice in their small town of Maycomb. Jem and Scout’s father is named Atticus and he is a well-respected man in the town as well as being a lawyer.
The film, Of Two Minds, is based on real life accounts of individuals living with bipolar disorder. Before watching this film, I had an idea of what bipolar disorder is , but after viewing this film I was completely mistaken. Previously, I thought being bipolar was going from a “normal” mood to an angry or sad mood in a matter of seconds and could be simply fixed by taking medicine. But my previous thoughts were completely wrong and bipolar disorder is very serious and complicated. I didn’t know the severity of this disease and I think a lot of the general public is uneducated about bipolar disorder as well as mental illness. Terri Cheney describes having bipolar disorder as, “Take the best day you ever had and multiply it by a million, it 's like a flu but one hundred times worse. It 's having flu in your mind."
The drama film Almost Famous is written and released by director Cameron Crowe in the year 2000. The film is set in the age of rock and roll in San Diego (1973). The film is partly autobiographical, because director Crowe had been writing articles for Rolling Stone magazine when he was a teenager.. Almost Famous has won several awards in 2001, including a Grammy award for best soundtrack, a BAFTA and an Oscar for best original screenplay. Winning these awards gives a good impression of the high quality of this film.
