Mary Wollstonecraft, a famous writer and philosopher, was born on April 27, 1759 in Spitalfield, London. Throughout Mary’s life, she has many accomplishments, one being a book called “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman”. When we look back one should wonder, how did Mary accomplish so many things? Mary grew up receiving her education from a local country school for girls. At school, Mary learned many things that a housewife should know such as sewing and other household chores. As Mary got older, she noticed that her father was abusive towards the family. Mary’s grandfather made a fortune from being a master weaver. Her father used this money on multiple farming ventures, that proved to be unsuccessful. Due to his failures, the family was forced to move multiple times. Mary’s father felt pressured from them constantly moving and from his venture failures, and this caused him to become an alcoholic. By the age of 19, Mary left home to go on her own and make a living for herself and to get a better education. …show more content…

Two years later, Mary returns home in order to care for her mother. By the age of 22, her mother passed away. After her mother passed, Mary then moves in with her best friend, Fanny. In 1784, Mary along with Eliza, her sister, and Fanny founded a school for young women. The school inspired Mary to write her first book in 1787, Thoughts on the Education of Daughters, which talks about how educated women can make a more valuable wife and mother rather than a woman with very little
