To me, marine biology is a subject unlike any other. Studying the nature of marine life means far more than an academic subject studied, it is a passion of mine towards the world's oldest and most complex ecosystem. Growing up on the island of Borneo led me to my fascination with the ocean; it also meant being aware of the pollution that is happening. I first decided that i wanted to study Marine Biology after my first snorkeling trip on the islands off the coast of Sabah. To know that having a degree in Marine Biology can give me the opportunity to develop practical and field work skills in helping protect and conserve the fragile environment is what attracts me the most. While diving on the outer reefs in Borneo I was amazed by the abundance of marine life around me. I also spend any other weekend in Lambir hills rain forest hiking. Nature has always been a big part of my life and I hope to continue building on my experience and knowledge of these interests at university. In the summary, I have an open mind to all opportunities that will be available to me in the future whether it is in research or fieldwork. Going to university has always been a goal of mine to achieve and I am certain that my passion will transfer to my life in university. The reason to why I choose to study in the UK is because of the diversity of students attending university there and to learn more about other cultures. Studying in the UK will also help me master the English language and travel around UK and Europe easily while witnessing different cultures first handedly. Studying in a UK university can offer me world class tuition and state of the art facilities. Besides that, UK's higher education and qualification have an impressive reputation that I hope it can develop my potential while enjoying a full social
