Throughout history there have been many instances of cultures that have been marginalized over a certain characteristic that they portray, such as color or a certain tradition. Everyone has many things that chain them to a certain culture, this isn’t a fairytale, examples of this would be the African American and native American cultures. These cultures have been marginalized by other cultures for prolonged periods of time. Blacks were mistreated even after they had what America called “freedom”. The term freedom is used as being free to speak or say anything without being hindered, as stated from Webster. Still today this term is not fully used, blacks being oppressed subliminally, and when seen voicing their ideas are immediately shut down stating that all lives matter. King and Dr. Cornell were both aware of this continuous disrespectful racial outlook and chose to show the world that this was an actual part of life. With this they both displayed what it means to be marginalized in each culture and gave many a more open view on how to change this
