While reading the play Othello, we notice the there are many different themes that we are exposed to. Some of them included themes like jealousy, love, light and dark. Although these themes are really important and have a great impact in the play. I think there is a far more impactful theme then those, which would be manipulation. Manipulation is one of the most important themes in the play because almost every character is affected by it, and is one of the reasons for all the problems.

Before I talk about manipulation in the play, we would need to know what manipulation is. Manipulation means a type of social influence that aims to change the behavior or perception of other through abusive, deceptive or underhanded tactics.So how does relate to Othello? Well in Othello, Iago is the antagonist of the play and manipulates everyone to do things that will ruin Othello. He was able to manipulate different characters with such ease. So i was very curious on how he did do such a act. Based on my research Iago did something that was so unexpected. He manipulated them so easily by finding out each character's weaknesses. For example, Roderigo is madly in love with Desdemona. So Iago exploits his obsession of Desdemona and ends up listening to Iago. Another example would be Cassio Cassio needs his reputation so, Iago finds his weakness, which would be drinking, and uses it to destroy
