The first time I saw this piece it caught my attention in a way the other images in my textbook were not. I was taken aback by the imagery for it shows the hegemony people were experiencing in the late sixties which reminds me of today’s current world situation. Malcolm X’s death indeed was a true spectacle not easily forgotten, being that his assassination was all over mass media, as well in a public place. It's almost as if those in power during the time of the mid sixties wanted to make an example out of Malcom; a man who used his agency in the “land of the free” in an attempt to wake up his people.
