When people ask for advice, they normally ask more than one person because they need to have more than one opinion on the problem. One person may say you should try to do your best, but another person may say why bother doing it if it doesn't help you. In order to make knowledgeable decisions, people must have different opinions from others who are reliable.
I asked my father if I should tell the principle that the boys’ bathroom was vandalized by a person named Ian. He said no I shouldn't, but I wasn't sure.
