Main Events in Hamlet
Most people consider Hamlet to be one of Shakespeare's major tragedies. It expresses the power of love, death, and betrayal. There are several points in the story that are caught off-guard by the readers. Three specific occurrences, however, have huge roles in the play. If these were never placed into Shakespeare's literary masterpiece, the story would never be the same.
King Hamlet’s Ghost
As the story begins, Hamlet hears about the death of a close family member, his father. Shortly after he arrives at the funeral, he discovers that his mother, the queen, is remarried to the perished king's brother. Hamlet’s anger and grief grew even further. “Foul incest,” Hamlet called the marriage. He then suspects something strange is going on.
One night, Hamlet hears the voice of his father. Upon inspecting the voice, he finds his father’s ghost. King Hamlet tells his son that he can not move on because he died of unnatural causes. It was at that moment when the king reveals that Claudius himself had murdered him by pouring poison into his ear as he was sleeping. Hamlet asks the apparition how he …show more content…

One day in the queen’s room, as Polonius was having a conversation with her, Hamlet quickly entered his mother's room as well. Becoming nervous, Polonius hides behind a curtain to avoid conflict from occurring. Hamlet sees the curtain move as he was talking to his mother and assumes the movement is a rat. Deciding to be a show-off, he stabs the “rat” and later discovers the terrible mistake. Polonius dies instantly and Hamlet mocks the death afterward. When Ophelia finds out about the death of her father, she goes insane. She begins to sing to herself and hand out special flowers. She decides to float into a body of water and sing, but sadly she drowns upon doing so. Her brother becomes angry and is convinced that it is all Hamlet’s
