6.10. Reasons behind water scarcity in Maidangarhi
In Maidangarhi, the supply of water is very pathetic. The reasons behind water scarcity in Maidangarhi are as follows :-
1). Unauthorised Colonies :-
Only 7% of the area of Maidangarhi are under Lal dora and remaining areas are unauthorized colonies. So, due to illegal construction, its very difficult for Delhi Jal Board to find out which areas are having pipeline connections and which areas doesnot have pipeline connections in Maidangarhi.
2). Overcrowding :-
As the number of unauthorized colonies are increasing in Maidangarhi, further results in the increase of population who live here as a tenant, further results in the high demand of water specially in the summer season.

During summer seasons, the conditions of water in Maidangarhi is very pathetic due to overutilization of ground water.
5). Lack of funds :-
Lack of funds is one of the main reason for the scarcity of water in Maidangarhi. It is proposed by Delhi Jal Board to provide 100% water pipeline connections in Maidangarhi. But due to availability of sufficient amount of fund, project has yet to start.
6). Uneven distribution of water :-

No proper connectivity for pipelines :-
No proper connectivity for water pipelines is one of the major reasons for water scarcity in Maidangarhi. Roads are very narrow, so its very difficult to connect all houses of Maidangarhi from Sarita vihar water pipelines connections.
8). No source of water :-
Water through boring and water through tankers are the main sources of water in Maidangarhi, very few areas of Maidangarhi receive water through pipeline connection. As the proper sources of water is not available in Maidangarhi, further results in the scarcity of water.
9). No billing or metering system :-
Due to lack of metering system, residents of Maidangarhi are wasting lots of water which further results in the scarcity of water in some areas.Therefore, the above mentioned points are the main cause of water shortage or scarcity of water in Maidangarhi.
