Entry no. 4 Date: January 25th, 2016 Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow Lesson description Ms. Pat started the class with an intense yoga session. After a while, Ms. Pat instructed us to recite our lines while holding our yoga poses. Moving on, Ms. Pat we gathered at the side of the room before reciting our Macbeth lines. Each and every one of us had to recite our lines in front of everyone in the experimental theatre. Discovery and Understanding After today’s class, I discovered that we should not put on a fake character when delivering our Macbeth lines. We should just be natural so that our emotions can flow out from us properly. Besides that, I also understood the deeper meaning of the Macbeth lines after seeing everyone perform it. Moreover, we have to stop feeling intimidated or stressed because we won’t be able to recite our lines correctly. For instance, Sarah got stage fright because she was thinking about a lot of things at once. Other than that, Syaz was trying too hard to cry while reciting his lines. Therefore, we had to let our lines flow naturally by letting us be our own character. Research The research for today’s class is about stage fright. Stage fright can be known as a social anxiety disorder (American Journal of Psychiatry). It is a fear of speaking in public because of one’s self-esteem and confidence. Social anxiety can’t be taken lightly as it can make someone keep their fear in secret. However, there is often a misconception of social anxiety. Some people categorize social anxiety as a form of shyness which is completely untrue. (Burstein M). People who have stage fright that is also a form of social anxiety can overcome their fear by a lot of ways.
