It is often believed that you fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time. In William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer night’s Dream, Main characters become obsessed with the idea of love and face many challenges. Firstly, Hermia and Lysander are going against the Athenian law and her father's wishes, which could lead to major consequences like death. Secondly, Titania loses focus with her relationship with Oberon and falls in love with Bottom which causes her to do everything in her power to make him stay. Lastly, Demetrius falls in love with Helena and is willing to do anything to win her over. Love changes the way people think causing them to lose clarity and focus on one specific person. She tells Bottom he cannot leave, “Out of this wood do not desire to go; Thou shalt remain here, whether thou wilt or no.” (Shakespeare 38) Titania has a sudden change in love intrest, she was with Oberon but now she is so focused on being with Bottom she forgets about Oberon and falls madly in love with Bottom, now that she’s in love with Bottom she is losing her sanity because she’s so in love with him she won’t let him leave. Hermia is determined to stay with Lysander, “If true lovers have ever cross’d it stands as an edict in history.” (Shakespeare 6) Although her father and Athenian laws are becoming a problem she focuses on Lysander and continues to go against the law and her father. She’s losing clarity as she fights against them, saying true love is meant to be. They love each other so much that they plan to run away together, risking a lot if they were to get caught. “And to that place the sharp Athenian law cannot pursue us.
