Do you believe in karma? A lot of people believe in karma and I am one of them. I think that “The Story of an Hour” is about karma because Louise Mallard thinks that her husband Brently, has died in an accident. When Louise found out that Brently was in a railroad accident, she was sad. In line 13 it says, “She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister’s arms. When the storm of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone. She would have no one follow her.” she was sad about the news because she had lost someone that she had cared about. When she was in her room, she sat in silence except for when a sob came from her throat. In line 45 it says, “When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under her breath: ‘free, free, free!’” I think she was saying this because she was finally free from her life with her husband Brently. In line 65 it says, “And yet she loved him--sometimes. Often she had not.” I think that she says this because now that her husband died she isn’t tied down by him. …show more content…

Most of the time the husbands would work and the wives would stay home to take care of the house and children. I think that Louise felt like she was tied down by Brently because she was tired of staying home all the time. Now that she is no longer tied down she can live for herself. In line 59 it says, “There would be no one to live for her during those coming years; she would live for herself.” I think that this is saying that Brently was living for Louise since he got to go out and work and see the world while she had to stay at the house all the
