Influential Americans Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, and Muhammad Ali are all influential Americans. Presley and Armstrong had a big impact in the music world while Muhammad Ali influenced many in boxing. Armstrong was a trumpeter and a singer with a unique voice; Presley began the rock ‘n’ roll era; and Ali is considered one of the greatest heavyweights in the history of sports. Born on January 8, 1935, Elvis Presley came to be known as of the most famous names in rock ‘n’ roll history. Presley was born and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi and was an only child. Many people know him as a famous singer, but what they don’t know is what he brought to popular music. Presley combined a variety of music styles to form “rockabilly”, which became to be known as the key to rock ‘n’ roll music; his version of this new music was extremely popular during the 1950’s. Another famous musician is Louis Armstrong. Armstrong did many things throughout his life; he was a trumpeter, singer, comedian, and film star. Born on August 4, 1901, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Armstrong had a challenging childhood. He was raised in a poor neighborhood named “The Battlefield” and encountered several difficulties there.

Armstrong’s father was a factory worker and abandoned him and his family once he was born. His mother was almost never around; she would turn to prostitution to get money and she’d leave him with his grandmother.
