In A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, one of the main characters, Walter Lee Younger, had a dream to co-own a liquor store with his friends. Walter wants a better life for his family and himself to finally give Ruth, Travis and the family a home they could call theirs. He wants the privilege to be rich and feels like his opportunity to be rich was stolen from him. All Walter wanted to do was make money to support his family and be his own boss along side Bobo and Willy Harris. So once he knew that money was gone his dream came crashing down. Even though Walter’s main dream was not able to come true part of it did when momma bought the house. He could nw leave the house to Travis to have his own room and they could live happy. When trying to get the liquor store licence they turned to bribing hoping the could in fact get a licence. An obstacle Walter comes upon is when momma tells them that she used part of the money to buy a new home for them. He felt like she backstabbed him for using the money he clearly wanted to chase after his dream. Momma felt bad for doing so she trusted Walter with the rest to put in the bank but Walter turned behind her back and got the liquor store plan back on track. When Walter gives all his money to Bobo to give to Willy so they could go get the liquor store licence. It turned out that Willy ran with the money and never came back with the money. This broke Walter and changed him he felt he should scam Lindor, Chairman of Clybourne Park, the same way Willy scammed him and Bobo.
