Summary- The chapter starts with Ralph laying on the ground covered in bruises and thinking about everything. He then goes back to where the twins are to see how they are doing and the twins tell him that Jack is planning to hunt him down to kill him. He then decides to hide in between rocks while they search for him but in the morning Jack finds out where Ralph is. So Jack and his tribe throw the red rock at him but that doesn't works so they try to smoke him out. So Ralph decides to get out of the rock and starts to run to the woods, also there is a boy in the woods is waiting for him so Ralph stabs him and decides to hide. Once they find him again Ralph starts to roll down a hill and ends up in navy officers arms who has a boat. All the boys start to cry because they realize that are being rescued and that they are going home.

man: The external conflict between Ralph and everyone else about who's wrong and who is right has been going on in the whole novel. In this chapter though, Ralph was all alone and didn’t have any support because Piggy is dead and Samneric have been forced to join Jack. Jack and his tribe also have taken it really far since they are all trying to kill Ralph instead of leaving him alone. This was fixed after they realized what they have been doing when the officer came to rescue them.
Maslow or Freud- I think Maslow's belonging need was tested in this chapter for Ralph. Since he has no one and he just wanted everyone to forgive him even though he didn’t do anything. He also wanted to go back home where everyone was much kinder than Jack and the others.
Quotation- "Ralph launched himself like a cat; stabbed, snarling, with the spear, and the savage doubled up." (Golding 286). This quote makes us realize that Ralph is no different than Jack because he will kill people to save himself just like Jack does. He is turning into a animal just like Jack and his tribe did but it took him longer than
