Look what you made me do, Ben Buchnat. I, too, was ready to stay in a comfortable bubble of indie and punk harmonies. Pop really has been pretty boring this summer. But that all changed when Taylor Swift dropped the song and music video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” the first single off her new album “Reputation,” sending fans and haters into a frenzy. Now the most successful debut of any video in YouTube history, with a record-holding 43.2 million views in 24 hours, Swift only proves her music industry prowess. Taking every critique she has ever received from the media or public, Swift uses the song to make a strong comeback after a relatively defaming 2016, something my colleague failed to include in his review. Her famous beefs with rapper Kanye West, Kim Kardashian-West, Katy Perry and Calvin Harris are particularly highlighted throughout the video and song, and should be noted.
