Local and National Provision of Tennis
Introduction
This assignment provides insight into the provision of Tennis at a
local and national level. Cambridge has over 50 tennis courts spread
out between 5 clubs/sports centres. There has been a huge increase in
the number of tennis courts available to the public over the past
couple of years due to the new structure of the Cambridge Tennis
Association and how focus has shifted from county to club tennis.

Seeing as the LTA have decided to put much more focus on club players
and are constantly pumping up to £15,000 into their High Performance
Programme, there is more and more opportunities for those club players
to be noticed without having to take the step into county tennis.
Although there are a lot of different standards they are all quite
clear in how much you have to improve to make the next step. However
there are not really enough clubs around for some ‘out-of-town’
players to be able to play regularly enough so these pathways do kind
of depend on which are you belong to. Also there is a big problem with
how quickly you develop. If you are not considered as a prospective
talent by the age of around 13 then it is unlikely that you will be
picked for further improvements.
Grassroots Development
Over the last 2 years the tennis ‘scene’ has increased in size and is

Has tennis become more popular around the world? It is obvious that more and more people are starting to get involve in this sport. People that play tennis ranges from age 4 to 70 years old. Tennis players around the world have different game strategies and style of their own. Whether you focus more on offense or defense, it helps you to build your own style of game. Serve and volley is a game style or strategy often used by Australian tennis players. This strategy is not commonly seen because it requires higher fitness level and speed. An Australian player Patrick Rafter, currently ranked number three in the world of professional tennis uses the serve and volley technique. The concept of serve and volley is to intimidate the opponent by moving up towards the net after serving the ball.

Within todays sporting community, certain aspects of sport and its practices promote and construct ideas that sport in general is a male dominated. Sports media often provides an unequal representation of genders. Women athletes are regularly perceived as mediocre in comparison to their male equivalents (Lenskyj, 1998). Achievement in sport is generally established through displays of strength, speed and endurance, men usually set the standards in these areas, consequently woman rarely reach the level set by top male athletes. Due to this, the media significantly shows bias towards male sports while we are ill-informed about the achievements in the female sporting community. On the occasion that a female athlete does make some form of an appearance in the media, images and videos used will usually portray the female in sexually objectified ways (Daniels & Wartena, 2011). This depiction of female athletes can cause males to take focus solely on the sexual assets of the athlete in preference to to their sporting abilities (Daniels & Wartena, 2011). Sexualisation of sportswoman in the media is a prevalent issue in today’s society, it can cause physical, social and mental problems among women of all ages (Lenskyj, 1998).
Golf. A sport that started out with just a wooden stick and ball, is now a very well know game by many people all around the globe. The sport that also just started out as a way to mess around has become a job for some of the people and is making some golfers millions of dollars each year. A sport that many people spend their whole lives playing or watching used to not be exactly what is today. Even though golf is a very well known sport now, golf has been around for hundreds of years and is played by people all over the world. The sport of golf has been dated all the way back to years before 1,000 and has kept growing exponentially ever since. According to the International Golf Federation, they have 144 different countries a part of the organization, leaving out 51. The game of golf is played at many different levels all the way from junior tournaments, all the way to professional events. The evolution of the sport of golf is made up of a couple main things. These two main things are how golf got its start, and what has changed about the game.
There were many sports invented in the Victorian Era that contributed to most of the entertainment in that time period. Sports varied from laid back sports like Cricket, which was most often played by the upper class, all the way to very physical sports like Rugby and football. Other sports often played were tennis, Croquet, Horse Racing, and many more.
Every single tennis player experiences ups and downs throughout every match and throughout their whole career. The contrast between each category is how girl tennis players can grasp their tennis matches and all the hardships tennis has to offer. With these five types of players, it is evident that some girls deal with these difficulties in better ways than others.
Tennis is a sport that many people love to play. It is not the hardest sport in the world to learn. When playing against someone, it is called a match. Tennis can be played one on one or a doubles match. The main object of the game is to hit the ball over the net, inside of the lines so that the opponent can't get to it. There are two lines about two feet parallel to each other that outline the court. In a singles match, the inner line is the out of bound line, while the outer line is out of bounds in a doubles match. If you want to play, take a look at my two favorite tennis players because they are masters at serving and scoring, a few key aspects of the game.
Summer of 8th grade, all I felt was fear and doubt as I stepped onto the tennis courts. My first instinct was to try out and never come back, but as I started to learn more about the sport, I hated it. The frustration of trying to hit a ball over a net and making it land on the green made me scream internally. I thought about quitting, but a small part of me did not want to back down from this challenge. Of course I am going to struggle playing a sport for the first time so I continued going to the summer camp and when the school year started, I was in the JV Arroyo High School tennis team. Halfway through season I was offered a spot to play for the varsity team. I happily accepted the offer, but in the back of my mind the only word I thought
"Money makes the world go 'round." Sports could not exist without the presence of money. You have high paid athletes asking for multi-million dollar contacts, while at the same time you have doctors not even making close to that amount. There are corporations buying out sports teams, buying stadiums, and buying everything that has to do with sports. Someone may ask why they do this. Sports are one of the most profitable industries in the world. Everyone wants to get their hand on a piece of the action. Those individuals and industries that spend hundreds of millions of dollars on these sports teams are hoping to make a profit, but it may be an indirect profit. It could be a profit for the sports club, or it could be a promotion for another organization (i.e. Rupert Murdoch, FOX). The economics involved with sports has drastically changed over the last ten years. In the United States, we spend about 13% of all money on sports and entertainment. Sports has obviously done its job; entertained and drained money out of our pockets.
