Little House in Pecos The subjectivity of perception implies that perception of all things, concepts, memories that exist in the universe differ between beings. We all live in different worlds; no two individuals experience life similarly. The distinction of our memories help construct identity as we maturate. Childhood happens in a blur with a mélange of unrefined and primitive perspectives. However, through the lens of obscurity some memories are branded on the mind like a tattoo - like an abandoned house barely a mile away from my father's adolescent home. Though most of the endless days spent there meld together forming a singular and indistinctive memory, one antithetic day contrasts the rest of the reminiscences. Unforgettable is the day my friend and I discovered the hidden beauties of the uninhibited house. The adventure never began alone; it was common for acquaintances from the street to accompany me to the house. The abandoned house held an essence of danger that enchanted our 11-year old minds. Though chastised by our parents not to near that house, the allure was multiplied by the restriction of it. The house was thickly made of mud brick and melded easily into the dirt around it. The only semblance of abandonment stems from personal knowledge of the house itself. We wasted no time entering, for the heat had become nearly intolerable. Nothing had changed since the previous visit so the exploring commenced immediately and naturally. The architecture was rounded like every other house in the town with archways leading to each room. Void of any furnishings, there was not much to look at or explore.
