The theme is family bond and survival because through the story they suffer pain and lost and that cause them to bond more and to help each other and stick together. The theme is also based on survival because they experience though stuff like bad weather and bad environment. They experienced many lost between neighbors, doctors, and people they love. They also experienced tough situation and people they love getting sick and feeling bad, and not being able to help around. And now let's move on to more details. Finally, throughout this novel, a negative mood tends to plague the storyline. Once, something positive tries to make its way through the darkness, it is almost immediately shot down by a negative turning point. Right from the start of this novel, a negative perspective is induced when it seems as if Reuben won’t live as a result of his puny defective lungs. Furthermore, the continuous tormenting of the land family through the actions of Israel Finch and Tommy Basca resulted in even more palpable negativity. Lastly, economic depression also tortured the Land family as they continued to strive to make ends meet throughout their daily lives. As a result of the lack of positivity in Peace like a River, it is safe to say that the novel possesses an extremely negative mood; yet, this fact might soon change within the storyline.
The theme of in the chapter six from the book Blue Skin of the Sea was that life is unexpected. One ways that this shows that this is the theme is because in the book the tsunami was unexpected, no one knew that it was coming. In the book it says, “Some came back just before the waves hit, thinking it was a false alarm.” This quote proves that everyone thought that it was a false alarm so they would have never known that this tsunami would wipe out a town and kill people. Theme: The theme of the story has to do with friendship. Maddie always thought she would never find her best friend. Being one of the only females at the airbase made those chances slimmer. That was until she meet Verity. The became very close building their relationship throughout the whole book. Even when the were separated the reader could tell their bond was ever growing.

The theme of the book is expressed by all of these elements. Santiago has to take the trip that gets him away from everything he know to gain knowledge and understand the world. With this new knowledge he has learned that the best way to make decisions is by listening to his heart, and when he does this he finds out who he really is.
The story presents a theme of the problems relationships have, when one partner becomes dominant or repressive and the other is trying to change and improve the situation. The same sort of conflict is at the core of Yann Martel’s Life of Pi, as seen through the main character Pi Patel. At first it may not seem as such, but after investigating certain trends it can be interpreted as an exposé on the true essence of human nature, most specifically in relation to God. At the beginning the author introduces the rain as “urban” in contrast to “field or shore” rain. Immediately the image of urban rain is less threatening than that of a field or shore. It gives the reader a playful image of almost being teased by the rain. In the city one has to hide from it and jump from umbrellas to awnings, yet never has to worry about the danger of being caught in it for too long. These playful and teasing characteristics of the rain are the exact guidelines to the relationship between the two main characters. The rain represents the couple’s emotion and they experiment with it just like in a real adolescent relationship. They see how long they can be drenched by its passion, nevertheless they return to the overhangs not knowing how much of it they can handle.
