Dear Friend, this one’s for you: my story on having genital herpes and how I’ve learned to live my life No one really likes to talk about sex, or what can come from it, pregnancy, std’s. Well that’s what I am here for. If you don’t use safe precautions when you are sexually active, things can get bad fast. Through out my life, I’ve had sexual relations with all the guys I have dated. And I know what you think, it must be a lot, but trust me I can count them all on both my two hands and in reality that is not a lot. I got diagnosed with genital herpes about a year and a half ago. I know what you’re thinking already. “Ew gross. Get her away from me before I get a disease” but if I am being completely honest, I agreed with you when I first found out and that’s sort of the reason why I am here to educate you on this topic. Because, well nobody else will and who better else to hear it from than someone who has it first hand? Well obviously it is not ON my hand but okay, just listen to my story so you don’t learn the hard way. …show more content…
After a year of being together, I found out he had been cheating on me for a while. It hurt, oh did it hurt (the emotional pain I mean). I went to get it checked out either way. The doctor said he wasn’t sure it was a yeast infection and he wanted to run some blood work. When the results where in, he told me I had genital

After almost year of watching me struggle he insisted that I talk to my doctor. I met him at the Hawthorne high-school’s orientation. October 3, 2012, was the official date and months of being with him, for the first time ever he made me feel something I’ve never felt before. He was the first guy I ever came to love. I can go on about this, but I’m not going into detail about what happened those years. Let’s just wrap up that story to the simple truth, he left me. I had invested all my time and attention towards him, that I began to care less about school. I was never expecting it, or maybe I was. It hurt. Looking at him hurt. I remember coming home and crying my heart out. I was devastated. It was something I’ve never wanted to experience. I sobbed and sobbed that night, and gripped onto my pillow and shouted into them, hiding the cries. I felt empty when I awoke the next day. My eyes were swollen, and I felt an empty void. I felt dead. We didn’t speak to each other after that. Months passed, and I was keeping myself occupied with work and friends, I finally was learning how to move on, on my own. I finally came to find my happiness through realization. They say somethings happen for a reason. It’s either a

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2013), human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection with over 40 types that can cause infection. Many people who contract the disease never develop signs or symptoms; yet can still pass it on (CDC, 2013). In the case that symptoms do develop, HPV has been linked to genital warts and several types of cancer including cervical. To prevent one’s chance of developing these health effects, two vaccines have been created: Gardasil and Cervarix. Both of these vaccines are given in a series of three shots over a six-month period (CDC, 2013).
During high school having multiple sexual partners was the normality and girls did not take care of themselves sexually. My high school ended up having a high pregnancy rate and sexually transmitted infection rate as well. This was most likely due to insufficient sexual education during the early years of high school and a high poverty rate in the area. I feel like I learned quickly form my mistake and learned how to protect myself sexually and emotionally. I saw all the pregnancies going on around me and learned from them and told myself that was not going to be me. Going to this high school and learning from all these experiences shaped my thinking even more and made me realize that sex should not be something that just gets tossed around and it can lead to serious consequences if protective measures are not
