You are receiving this letter because I am appealing your recent decision on denying Social Security disability for my severe atopic dermatitis, allergies, and asthma. I developed these critical symptoms as a baby and continue to suffer from them today. They have been uncontrollable diseases that have haunted me my entire life seeing that there is no cure for them and they are triggered by daily foods, activities, and the environment, with my daily functionality is limited and dictated.
Atopic dermatitis causes inflammation of the skin, lesions of the skin, and chronic infections. This can happen on multiple body sites and critical body areas and this can result in very serious limitations. The open lesions cause uncontrollable pain, especially in places that constantly bend like my hands, elbows, knees, etc. If constant motion is put on the lesion this will not only not allow it to heal properly but also put me at risk for infection. Symptoms of asthma tend to be tightness of chess, wheezing, coughing and inability to breath. This could be triggered from general daily activities such as walking, and/or exercise. However, since I suffer from severe allergies as well, my asthma can be triggered from something as simple as something I’ve eaten or ingested, the weather, or common illnesses such as a cold/influenza. Symptoms from my allergies are vast and range from itchy eyes, sneezing, runny nose, coughing, and possibly death. These symptoms are so varied since my allergies are from food, indoor and outdoor allergies, including animals, mold, dust mites, etc. Please note all my food allergies have generally come back positive, which triggers my symptoms itchy eyes, coughing, allergic reactions etc. These symptoms often occur daily and can last an extended amount of time without the proper treatment.
