Lethal Responsibility
The main thesis of this article was to explain that it is not always safe to have a gun around, show the pros and cons of having a firearm, and the author gave three steps on how to make it safer. One of the main points of the author was to explain the difference between a good guy having a gun and a bad guy having a gun. As he said in the article, there are more killings with the good guys that have guns than the bad guys (Wilson, 2013). The author also talked about some of the pros and cons of having firearms. One of the pros was that if someone broke into your house, you would have a way to protect yourself, but a con would be if your child got ahold of your firearm and ended up killing himself/herself, or someone …show more content…

When bias in an article like this, it is not as persuasive to the audience in which is reading it. If given more facts and places he got those facts, it would be easier to view his side in which he argued. He did have some good strengths though. He had three points that he made, and after each point he explained why it should be this way and why it would be safer to follow the steps. He also gave examples of why it is bad for people to have a firearm without being responsible with it. Wilson emphasized that most people are not responsible with guns (Wilson, 2013). I do agree with this concept to an extent, but it depends on who it is in the hands of. I think his steps are a great idea, but I think that there are better ways to go about it. Some ways I would go about it would be to take a background test on everyone that signs up for a license. I would also get all their medical records to make sure they don’t have any depression or other mental disabilities that could cause someone to make a bad decision.
