Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci a Tuscan hill town in the territory of the republic of Florence, son of wealthy Messer Piero Fruosini di Antonio da Vinci, a Florentine legal notary and Caterina, a peasant. His full name was Leonardo di ser Pierro da Vinci, the title ser indicated that his father was a gentleman. There is not too much known about his early years only that he lived in the home of his mother until 1457 and then in the household of his father in the small town of Vinci.
At the age of fourteen, in 1466, Leonardo was apprenticed of the artist Andrea di Cione, whose workshop was one of the best in Florence. Leonardo was exposed to both theoretical training and a vast range of technical skills, including drafting, chemistry, metallurgy, metal working, plaster casting, leather working, mechanics and carpentry as well as the artistic skills of drawing, painting, sculpting and modelling. Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15th, 1452 in Vinci, Italy (which is just outside of Florence). Da Vinci was an illegitimate son of a twenty-five year old notary, Ser Piero, and a peasant girl, Caterina. Leonardo’s father took custody of him a short time after birth. His mother, however, married someone else and moved. They kept having children, but not with each other. Sooner or later, Leonardo da Vinci had seventeen half brothers and sisters. While Leonardo was growing up in his father’s home in Italy, he had access to knowledge databases such as books and scripture. Also, Leonardo was exposed to Italy’s rich, vibrant painting community. At the age of fifteen, Leonardo’s father apprenticed him to the workshop of Andrea Del Verrochio in Florence. As an apprentice, Leonardo displayed excellent talent for the subject of art. One of Leonardo’s first big paintings was an angel in Verrochio’s “Baptism of Christ,” which ended up better than his master’s. In 1477, Leonardo set up his own shop. In search of new work, he was intrigued with the Duke of Milan. So, Leo set out to abide to t...
Italian painter, scientist, and Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci (full name Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci), was born on April 15th, 1452 in a small farm house in Tuscany, Italy. His mother was a peasant named Caterina da Vinci and his father’s name was Piero Fruosino di Antonio da Vinci. Unfortunately, his mother and father divorced because of his mother being a peasant, and his father didn’t want to be married to her, so Leonardo da Vinci was raised by his father and stepmother. When he was around the age of five, he moved into his father’s family estate in Vinci, Italy, where he lived with his uncle, grandmother and grandfather. In the years that he lived there, da Vinci was given very little to learn and study besides basic

Leonardo Da Vinci was born in Anchiano, Italy in the year 1452. His parents were never married. Leonardo's mother was a peasant and his father was an attorney and notary. As a child, Leonardo was given no formal education based on reading, writing, and math. Around the age of 15, Leonardo’s father apprenticed him to an artist named Andrea del Verrocchio. For ten years, he trained in mechanical arts until he mastered his artwork and he was ready to be a master of art. Leonardo moved to Milan to work for the Sforza clan as a engineer, painter, architect, designer of court festivals, and a sculptor. At the age of 30, Leonardo kept secret notebooks to write down ideas for inventions and artwork. This lead Leonardo to inventing his famous flying
He joined as an apprentice under Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence at the age of 14. He learned a lot of things like metalworking, carpenting, drawing, painting, and sculpting while working under her. His earliest sketch that is known to us of a pen and ink drawing was sketched in 1473. He continued to work with his teacher even after he qualified for a membership as a major artist in Florence’s Guild of Saint Luke and established his own workshop at the age of 20. It is said that he painted part of the background and the young angel holding the robe of Jesus in the painting “Baptism of Christ” around 1475 to help his teacher.
The artist, as have said before, was born to a common peasant, but went to live with his wealthy father. Although we know nothing of Leonardo’s early education, we have proved that he had been drawing since he was young. Vasari, who has given us the information on Leonardo, states that he was talented in music and in math. Wells and Kemp state:
Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15th 1452 out of wedlock, to parents Piero da Vinci, and Catalina. His hometown was Vinci, a province of Florence. His father was a wealthy man, and his mother was a peasant. As a young child, he was denied an education, because of his birth. Regardless, this didn't

His bastard status possibly affected him psychologically and his immense self-awareness seemed to make him more determined to achieve above his illegitimate shadow. In 1470, Leonardo was apprenticed to Andrea del Verrocchio and two years later was acknowledged in the Florentine register of painters (Oxford!). Although he was a painter in his own right, Leonardo chose to stay with Verrocchio and a few other students at the workshop for approximately five more years, allowing him to work on a broad spectrum of projects, including the rondure on the top of the lantern of Florence Cathedral (Oxford!). Leonardo’s natural talent and genius would later lead him to become an artist, scientist, inventor, visionary, philosopher and the greatest anatomist of all time
One of Leonardo’s best paintings was “Adoration of the Magi”, but he never finished it (Goodenough 39). Another one of Leonardo’s most loved and most famous paintings was the “Mona Lisa” (Goodenough 39). Leonardo did not like straight face portraits, because of this, He had men to sing and make jokes in order to make Mona Lisa smile (Goodenough 39). Leonardo was a very good artist and thought the only people you should copy or imitate were Masaccio and Giotto (Goodenough 43). Leonardo moved to Florence when he was fifteen years old. At that time he was working with Andrea del Verrocchio. Leonardo was taught more about sculpture and painting while living in Florence. He learned all of this very quickly, which impressed Verrocchio (Ryan and Daigle). One of Leonardo’s first paintings was “Baptism of Christ”. Leonardo was Verrocchio’s assistant during this painting. While Verrocchio painted most of the painting, he did allow Leonardo to paint one angle, the landscape, and the final adjustments on Christ (Ryan and Daigle). Verrocchio decided to give up painting when he realized how much better Leonardo was than himself (Goodenough
Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in a small Tuscan town called Vinci that was near Florence. Most people know him for his skills as an artist and his many famous paintings. These paintings included the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and Virgin of the Rocks. An artist was only one of the activities that da Vinci was good at. He was known as the quintessential Renaissance man. Da Vinci was also a mathematician, inventor, sculptor, musician, and writer. Leonardo is stated to be one of the most diversely talented men maybe ever to be alive. He studied at the studio of Verrocchio in Florence in his younger years. Studying with Verrocchio he was introduced to many different challenges to paint and that ended up diversifying his styles and abilities.

He later moved to Vinci to stay with his grandfather and then traveled to Florence to have a greater education. “There he learned to write, to read and to calculate. Also he was taught in geometry and Latin” (Kausal).

Remember that one painting of a lady staring at you with no eyebrows? Her name was “Mona Lisa”, doesn't that sound so familiar to you? Leonardo da Vinci painted that during the Renaissance. The Renaissance was a great cultural and religious revival in Europe. There were many great artists during these times, but on top of all these great artists was the infamous procrastinator, Leonardo da Vinci! Leonardo was the best painter of the Renaissance and he was a true genius in anything he studied. He would usually procrastinate, as stated, but was an important role in realistic art, and anatomy during the Renaissance, that later played a big role in our advances today as well. In his early life he was a really talented and smart boy that lived with
Leonardo was born in a small town in Tuscany, Italy called Vinci on 15 April, 1452. Back then, not all people had surnames; only those who were rich and powerful deserved one. Therefore, when people today refer to him as “Leonardo da Vinci”, “da Vinci” actually means “from Vinci” in Italian. His talent for painting was recognized by his family and neighbors when he was still a boy, and he started his painting career at a very young age. At 14, he was sent to Florence by his father to learn from Verrocchio, who owned a leading workshop at the time. It is said that when he cooperated with Verrocchio on the Baptism of Christ, his skill was so much finer than his master’s that Verrocchio quit in the middle and never painted again for his whole life. 1
