Leif Erickson: The real founder of America

Leif Erickson. You may not know him, but he was the founder of America. He was a viking, one of the only ones to step foot on the North American continent. I know, you were taught that Christopher Columbus discovered America. Well you were taught wrong. People can argue this but there is actually a Leif Erikson day. October 9th.

Leif Erikson was believed to be born 960 A.D. Other sources show that there is no exact birthdate but he was born sometime in the 10th century (901-1000 A.D). He was born in Iceland, yet he was raised in Greenland. His family consisted of his father Erik the Red, mother Thjodhild, brothers Thorvald and Thorstein, sister Freydis, his grandfather Thorvald and grandmother Asvald Asvaldsson, great-grandfather Asvald Ulfsson, and later his two sons Thorkell and Thorgils. As you can see Thor(insert something) and Asvald was a family name passed down from generations. He, his father, and his mother were the ones with more unique names.
