Learning is the process which causes permanent change in knowledge and or behavior as defined by Anita Woolfolk. The process of learning can be accomplished in various forms. I learn by listening, reading, writing, speaking, demonstration/modeling, and my own thinking process when solving problems or finding answers to questions. Next, I will discuss in further detail, using examples, the ways in which I learn. First, I learn by listening. When I am being read to, hear a lecture, a piece of music, a foreign language, or a discussion of others I am constantly making self-connections to the material I hear. By reading, I learn at my own pace. I can always go back and re-read the content to check for optimum understanding, unlike listening. Often when reading, I learn through self-connections as well. I like to place myself in the story and learn as I live through the text. Reading allows me to approach the situations from any viewpoint I want. In writing, I learn through different forms. Whether it be personal narratives, descriptive, explanatory, or even persuasive essays I can learn by writing them. I learn through writing as I develop and create something of my own. I find that I learn much better when I am telling someone what I am supposed to be learning. Even though my mom may not know much about the Russian Revolution or Discrete Mathematics, when I being to explain it to her it helps me learn. I look at learning by speaking more so as learning by explaining or teaching. I typically speak to someone about the content I am learning and try to teach or explain to them what I am supposed to know. This allows me to cognitively change my speaking strategies to make sure she understands what I am trying to tell her. I have to know all of the parts of what I am learning for her to gain understanding, and this helps me to process and organize my thinking. In social studies learning, I utilized social studies a lot. I would call my mom often to explain to her what happened in the American Revolution or the second World War. So many political ideologies were present during these times, and in order for me to sort them and learn them I would have to explain them specifically to
