William Shakespeare has been very well-known for his literature, whether it was his poetry or his plays. The Tragedy of MacBeth is one of the amazing works by William Shakespeare that continues to be taught in schools every day. The Tragedy of MacBeth is about a loyal Thane that is told his possible future and takes advantage of the opportunities he opens up for himself to become the King of Scotland. The modern version of MacBeth is devoted to the story by sticking to a similar plot as the original, portraying the same themes of the story, and keeping the main characteristic in the characters written in the original version. The main character of the modernized version, Maddie, is ambitious she wants to keep her position as president. MacBeth is ambitious as his determination to be king grows more and more, and when he was king he had a strong desire to get more power. In the original play, Lady MacBeth is powerful as she challenged her husband’s masculinity and kept order when MacBeth began to hallucinate Banquo at the dinner. The adaptation has Lily, who is Maddie’s right-hand person. Lily is powerful as she tries to maintain the excitement in the celebration, and confront Maddie in private as Maddie begins to talk to nothing. In the original version, Lady MacBeth also shows her fierceness as she prevents those around MacBeth to not speak to him, because the possibility of MacBeth admitting the murderous crime they were both involved in. Lily does the same thing as she prevents the friends and acquaintances to not worry about the things Maddie says as she is visualizing a wounded Bethany.
