Lack of Funding Of Sports Programs
Lack of Funding in Sports Programs is causing schools and after school programs to drop sports all together. Sports is good in not only helping individuals cope with problems, but learn to interact with others and the importance of team work. Educational departments are cutting funding for these programs and this is hurting children for many reasons. This paper will help people understand how important sports are and what is being done with the money that is supposed to go to sports. Solutions to help put funding back on the right track will be shown and the opposing viewpoint will be explained.
Students all over the country are hurting without sports. Sports help students get into colleges that will allow them to get a better education. Once in college only a hand full of athletes will go on into professional sports. That leaves thousands of students who will need a good education to get a good job. Playing in school sports actually helps students do better in school work than students who don’t participate in any sport. It allows for an outlet from other distractions that occur in highschool and college life. Outside school programs allows children to escape from the negative aspects they may encounter in the world. Children from rough neighborhoods where a lot of people end up in jail or dead because of drugs and gangs get a chance to be away from those things and do something positive with their lives. These programs all...
Sports are a crucial part of an individual 's character. Counter arguments made against having sports at schools are getting more and more public. The arguments make people, think again about having students play sports. Sports are useful because they give players skills they can use on and off the field: strength, leadership, and confidence.
The Black Lives Matter campaign is a major movement in the United States. The campaign started because of the police brutality that occurred against African Americans across the nation. The African American community began this activist movement in order to raise awareness of the mistreatment of African Americans by the police. Furthermore, the campaign strives to solve the issues of racial profiling and injustice in the United States’ criminal society. The first demonstration of the Black Lives Matter campaign occurred after the Trayvon Martin case. Trayvon Martin, a young African American teenager, was shot and killed by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman for no apparent reason. Despite this, George Zimmerman’s trial was acquitted. Following this unjust sanction, protestors coined the hashtag “blacklivesmatter” on social media and began public demonstrations to show their anger toward the criminal justice system.
Many Americans continue to say expressions such as “All Lives Matter,” “Blue Lives Matter,” and do not support the “Black Lives Matter.” People could also argue and support the police because of cases such as the Dallas police shooting where 5 cops were killed and 9 injured. Some supporters use the slogan “All Lives Matter” or “Blue Lives Matter” as part of a claim that Black Lives Matter overlooks the importance of other kinds of races or people. There is an undeniable presence of White privilege, and when privileged people are making biased judgements towards other races that
After reading " The Case Against High School Sports" by Amanda Ripley started to make me think. There were many strong points about how the priorities of the sports are beginning to be more important to students than their education. Another great point was that the financing and budgeting is unfairly distributed throughout school districts and is spent more on athletics and clubs and not enough on classes. And I Believe that schools should put certain restrictions on the spending and promoting or in school sports and clubs because of the major drop in national and world comparisons.
Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.
School funding cannot be solely to blame for the decrease in physical activity in the education environment. With the increased emphasis on the need to achieve academic aptitude, children as well as their adult parents see athletics as an extra, or something that can be done when and if homework is completed. Not to say that this is not commendable, but evidence supports the fact that athletic programs have the ability to turn at-risk youth in positive directions. Sports programs promote healthy social and physical development while offering positive alternatives to high risk behavior.
It is my belief that aggressive behavior in children is linked to the media, but also to the behavior portrayed by the people around them. Many studies have been targeted toward the link between aggression and viewing violence in the media. One well-known study was conducted by Albert Bandura and is known as the Bobo doll experiment. Research has shown that a child will mimic the actions of others if the actions are reinforced. “Albert Bandura argued that aggression in children is influenced by the reinforcement of family members, the media, and the environment” (Bandura, 1976).
Media Violence and its negative impact has been discussed and debated for many years As children grow into teens they encounter as vast amount of violence in the media, negatively impacting today’s youth. Teenagers who are exposed to media violence will fail to develop effective socialization strategies and resort more readily to violence, which makes society a more dangerous place.
The topic of whether the art or sports budget in schools be cut to fund the other is very debatable. Arguments from omit supporting sides are valid, as sports and arts shape a student’s mind. The Evergreen School District’s budget for the programs deflated and is in need of a solution. Either the art or sports funding be cut, to fund the other. This has caused an uproar from students attending the school district. Arts and sports are both fundamental to students, but under these circumstances, the deplete of the art program’s funding is the only answer. Sports ought to stay in school, as it teaches how to work in teams, keeps you healthy, and prevents students from committing crimes.
Participation in sports has proven to increase self-discipline and self-esteem, and can teach athletes to learn from their mistakes and move on (Issitt). Athletes playing team sports also develop the ability to work well with others and use teamwork in their everyday lives. Teammates form relationships that are strengthened over a common passion and goal. These relationships can last long after high school is over (Chen). These social skills translate into better communication used with an athlete’s family, peers, and in the community. Likewise, “A 2006 study in Maryland found that student athletes are 15 percent more likely than non athletes to be involved in their communities and to take the time for civic engagements, including participating in voting and volunteer activities” (Issitt). The same study also concluded that athletes are far more likely to be comfortable with public speaking than non-athletes. This study provides concrete evidence that high school sports can help to gain mental and social skills that will be used later in life
Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. It is for these reasons schools should strive to maintain athletic programs for their students.
As a matter of fact, Gates uses his financial power to contribute to thousands of philanthropic causes through his foundation. To clarify, Bill Gates and his wife established the William H. Gates Foundation around the 90s. This was Gates’ first attempt on philanthropy to focus on education, world health, and investment in poor communities. Eventually, several family foundations joined to form the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. In addition, Gates has stepped down from CEO of Microsoft in 2008 to involve himself full-time in his foundation. Not to be biased, but the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the world’s largest charitable foundation donating approximately $1 billion annually. As an illustration, through his foundation, Gates has pledged to donate 95% of his fortune over time. His foundation continues to combat malaria, polio and other diseases around the world while still trying to reform education in the US. To explain, in the US, the foundation works to improve public education and college scholarships. In other words, the program aims to graduate students from high school and prepare them for college. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation gears its efforts towards minorities who cannot afford higher education by providing students with scholarships. In detail, the program works with educators, policymakers, parents, and communities to develop successful programs. Even more, the
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Sports increase a student’s performance not only in the classroom but also in their life.
E-marketing is a fast growing and rapid platform for any form of business. EBay has been highly successful over recent years and this is a perfect example of an online business. The internal and external environments are constantly changing and in order to keep up with these changes, businesses and organisations must make relevant changes, and generate new strategies to keep up with contemporary developments in e-marketing and to also maintain their position in their market in comparison to their competitors.
No single factor can cause children or adults to act aggressively. Instead, it is the accumulation of risk factors that leads to an aggressive act. Hundreds of studies look into the issue of violent media, it always seems to end up the same place with three major effects including increasing aggressive behavior in a variety of forms, desensitization, and spurs fear. Not every viewer will be affected noticeably, but we know that every viewer is affected in some way. Some have argued that violent media are the primary cause of mass shooting. Others have argued that there is no solid evidence of any harmful effects of violent media. But it is clear is that exposure to media violence is one of risk factors increased aggressive behavior, desensitization, and fear.
