Entering my senior year in 2017, I find myself dealing with a financial obstacle impeding me from finishing my last semester of undergraduate studies. Despite being awarded a merit-based partial scholarship from my university, which has helped reduce the tuition costs to almost match that of an in-state student, I would be required to obtain a second student loan in order to finish my studies. By receiving the La Unidad Latina National Scholarship, I will be able to fund my education and achieve a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
What are your career goals? *

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, my goal is to find a position as a Staff Auditor for an accounting firm. To achieve that, I have set out to obtain an Audit and Accounting internship within the next year to acquire valuable professional experience and the possibility of being offered a full-time position. So far, I have applied for an internship at one of the Big Four accounting firms and I’m yet to apply to more local firms.

To better organize “Be A Tiger Day”, we decided to form committees to coordinate the tour, academic advising, lunch and recreational activities. As the only Spanish speaker for the course, I played an important role for the event as I was the one who had to translate to the group of almost 50 students. By doing so, the students felt more comfortable with asking me questions about our university, the different majors, and the student lifestyle. By the end of the event, we could see the excitement in everyone’s faces as some students would shout: “This is the best day ever!”. “Be A Tiger Day” turned out to be a success, and it also strengthened my relationship with them as a tutor.
