“ Racism is a man’s gravest threat to man- the maximum of hatred for minimum reason.”, said Abraham Joshua Heschel. Racism has a big impact on our nation. People are rude to others just because of their skin color and what they look like. In this world there are three major problems. Those problems are racism, anti semitism, and prejudice. These are the problems that are most destructive to our nation. As a nation we can help solve these problems. If we don’t try these problems are going to be here forever. As a nation we can combat racism, anti semitism, and prejudice as long as we stick together. One way is the government can support movements like Black Lives Matter to raise awareness of police brutality, and help expose and dismantle structural racism. For example the nation can pursue policies to transform this country into a nation that declares the value of its people of color. There was one person who had a strong opinion on racism and racial justice, that person was Bernie Sanders. Bernie said “ We need a transformation to make it clear that black lives matter and racism will not be accepted in a civilized country.” Bernie Sanders had plenty of ways to make this happen, but the one that stood out to me was this one. Bernie said “ We need police forces that reflect the diversity of our communities, including in the training academies and leadership.” By this Bernie meant that in the training academies people need to be taught on how to reflect the variety of our communities. The nation can do countless things in our world as long as they make an effort.
Bullying occurs around the world. When a person hurts someone, does it over and over again, it is bullying. While reading about bullying I came across this quote, “ You can’t be against bullying without actually doing something about it.” This quote meant a lot to me because everyone says they want to stop bullying but they do nothing. He gave black people hope which made them believe in him and follow in what was right. Martin played a key role in the American Civil Rights Movement from the mid-1950’s. As I was reading about Martin Luther King Jr., I came across this quote “ Oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever. The yearning for freedom eventually manifests itself.” The African Americans felt oppressed. As they stood together while hearing Martin’s speech, they knew their freedom was worth the fighting. For example, the African Americans had protests and Rosa Parks made a stand on the bus.
