“To follow the modern ‘Knight’s code,’ we must escape our cocoons of self-interest and find ways to help others humbly and graciously.” A knight was a noble in Europe who served as a mounted warrior for a lord in the Middle Ages according to dictionary.com. A knight took an oath of chivalry causing them to fight for justice, hope, truth, faith and more. A knight assists all people therefore knight originally meant servant. One way that knights served and protected the people was by participating in the crusades. Knights might be motivated to participate in the crusades because they wanted to increase their number of trading allies. On their quest to the holy land, knights would encounter many different people causing them to form new relationships with all types of people. A knight swore to fight for their faith when they pledged to follow the Code of Chivalry. Knights followed the pope and did as he commanded. When the pope wanted to free the holy lands the knights carried out his wishes and attempted to free the holy lands. Knights and members of our military today have many things in common including taking an oath. To become a knight one must take an oath of chivalry which requires them to help others and to fight for faith, truth, justice and more. Comparable to the knights, military members have to take an oath. They swear to protect the people and abide by the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Knights were mounted warrior who pledged to serve others. Knights followed a Code of Chivalry that required them to fight for justice, faith, truth, and more.
