The pristine 1933 King Kong was constructed as a movie: to convey a story to entertain an audience. Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake took the substructure for King Kong and expanded upon it in virtually every way in order to “make again” the astoundment of the original for a modern-day audience. In that movie if you’re paying attention you can see a faithful reproduction of the biblical account of the Ark of the Covenant – the most sacred of all objects from the Bible. It is gilded with Gold, with fine woods and carvings – with the figures of two cherubs (keruvim – those who bring God close) on top – wings outstretched and barely touching at the point where God’s presence might one day descend and perhaps glow brightly like a metaphoric shining light of truth and knowledge.

Racist characteristics in films and stories are something that can be perceived in this generation, but was something that was normal and expected in the 1930’s. Sexuality and raciness were items that made films a commodity in the 30’s and King Kong uses both of these to attract a wide audience. These qualities are also a factor as to why King Kong remains a classic throughout the generations.

In the novel Big Fish by Daniel Wallace, we are told the story of Edward Bloom, a man of many adventures, who is somewhat of a myth. Big Fish is a collection of the tall tales Edward tells his son about his life, and also of the effect his tales had on his son. The novel comes from an American author from Alabama, while the movie comes from Hollywood and is directed by Tim Burton, who is also American. This story is not an ancient sacred text, so the story’s function(s) is to entertain and to make money.
The movie It was a good remake of the original movie that came out in 1990. When I saw the movie I thought it was good Film but I did think some parts of the movie was dumb. I did think the kids were good actors especially when they feared of pennywise and well that’s because while acting because they were scared. In the 2017 movie pennywise is a very scary clown, but you see there is a reason why pennywise is a clown. Pennywise is monster that takes the form of a clown to lure in children and it did that in the 90s. But in the 2017 version the clown is too scary to lure anyone in his traps. That’s why pennywise in the new version doesn’t work here. I do think the story is better than the original, but you do question some things.
The tone of Jumanji the book and movie is frightening. It is frightening in the book because while playing the game there is a lion that comes and chases Peter around the house and into the aunt’s bedroom. Consequently, there is a herd of rhinoceroses running through the house. Moreover, a volcano erupted in the house. The tone of the Jumanji movie is frightening because in starts out with two boys in dark and gloomy woods during a storm. Another reason is there is a continuous drumming sound coming from the board game. The last reason is Allen gets sucked into the board game.

What makes a person a hero? Is it strength and humility or is it simply the courage? In the movie The Mummy, Rick O’Connell can be compared to Odysseus in the movie The Odyssey. Rick and Odysseus have to face many challenges in order to survive. Rick and Odysseus face challenges in many different ways while being tested or simply fighting to the end. They do whatever they can so that they are able to survive. Rick and Odysseus have to sacrifice things like their family and money if they want to survive. Both of these heroes have significant qualities such as strength, courage, and the ability to conquer challenges. Although, they both have positive qualities about them, they have negative ones also. Both of them struggle from selfishness. Rick only thinks about himself when he wants the treasure. Odysseus shows selfishness when he does not fight for his men only for himself. While both of these characters show only true remorse for themselves they also can be caring and courageous for others. Rick is the true hero over Odysseus because he shows more hero figure qualities on his hero’s journey.
Jaws will forever be a thrilling ride through the annuls of time. Whether you are watching for the first or fiftieth time, when the shark comes up from the deep dark bottom of the sea, that little chill down your spine will follow.
