The Holocaust was a horrific time period that took place from 1933 to 1945. Multiple crimes were committed against the Jews. Jews were sent from ghettos to concentration camps. These concentration camps depended on inmates who supervised the prisoners. These inmates were known as Kapos. A Kapo was a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp who was assigned by a SS guard to supervise forced labor or carry out task to impress the SS guards. At the time of liberation many Kapos died in concentration camps, they would watch their fellow Jews die until it was their turn. Some Kapos were beaten and tortured until they died, and a few of the people who killed them were Jews that the Kapos were beating and killing. After the Holocaust more Jews have moved to the U.S. than ever before. The Holocaust was brought to people's attention, to help us understand how bad discrimination really was. I hope this leads to less discrimination in the future. People say that two out of every three jews that are living in Europe today didn’t survive the Holocaust. Today the Holocaust shows us how dangerous we as humans can be, and will be with the proper motivation. We are constantly impacting history, whether it being for better or worse.
